anyone actually watching #peertube regularly? please, share your experience! any time i try it, it's really hard to find any good creator: most videos are ... trash :( even on instances with 600k+ videos, there arent much good

I do, but I don't rely on any one instance's network/front page. I tend to use my account like an aggregator. I search the wider network, and when I find some I like I follow them...it takes a while but over time you gain a decent subscription list.

#tilvids is a good place to look, #spectra.video as well .... And #makertube.net

I really can't stand YouTube anymore and don't want to feed the beast.

I have a peertube instance on one of my YunoHost instance, and I use it to document the building of my warehouse - the survey, ground work, grading, etc.

The vids are not for public consumption, and you might want to keep that in mind. If you have critical / confidential need to share videos, peertube is one of the best platforms.

Yeah it's hard to find content you might like because it's so decentralized. There isn't just one place to look for content.

Follow @FediVideo ! (And check past posts too!) On a regular basis they give curated lists based on topics you might like. :blobfox:

Hey Ralen 👋

Yeah, I had a similar experience which is why I set up fedi.video that only federates with curated hand-picked accounts.

I deliberately don't federate with 600k videos because that means the good stuff gets buried under trash.

I also boost interesting videos several times a day, and there is a pinned post on my profile with interesting PeerTube accounts to follow.
