I see the current COVID pill as just another way for big pharma to make shit tons of money.

@Cambridgeport90 That's true of many aspects of medicine. The for-profit nature of our medical system is the reason you can't get cancer cures in the US that have existed for nearly a century

@sledge071 it bothers me... so much. I get it that there are some things for which we don't have natural cu… twishort.com/IGkoc

@Cambridgeport90 I, for one, feel relieved, knowing that anyone who is going to cut into me has had plenty of practice in dog lab before doing so
in reply to Sledge071

@sledge071 True... As I said before, I don't have as much of a problem with research as I do with killing them. Evidently President Biden authorized the killing of hundreds of beagles when the dogs could still survive.

@Cambridgeport90 I'm unfamiliar with that event. I don't know why such an order might have been given.

@Cambridgeport90 I know that the decision to kill all the minks in one of the Scandinavian countries was a response to the discovery that they could carry the corona virus. I wonder if the incident involving the dogs was somehow similar, in that they were contagious with something
in reply to Sledge071

@sledge071 still... the idea of killing something due to their condition... if they weren't suffering, that is. Just, ugh. I'm a bit of a tree hugger, if you haven't figured.
in reply to Katherine M. Moss

@Cambridgeport90 In the case of the minks, they were killed, because they represented a potential threat to humans. If a similar concern existed in the case you mention, the course of action would make sense. As a human, protecting humanity is something I can totally get behind
in reply to Katherine M. Moss

@Cambridgeport90 At the public health level, concerns for individual survival must give way to focus on threats to the population as a whole
in reply to Katherine M. Moss

@Cambridgeport90 That opens a very complicated set of issues. If you have ever had surgery, you owe your survival of that surgery to the destructive use of animals in the training of your surgeon
