Relatica, a Friendica iOS client made by @hankg, has made significant progress!

The UI is a lot smoother. The timeline looks great too.

This is still in beta, and not available on the App Store yet—but I’m excited about this!

Cool to hear.

One of the things that struck me exploring fedidb.org/ was just how low #friendica 's user counts are!

By total users, on par with #Hometown and #Akkoma.

By MAU, less than #calckey, #bookwyrm and hometown (and barely above akkoma).

I figured, seeing those, numbers, that they could probably do with some promotion or lift of some sort.

From a platform diversity perspective, the mobile app expectation feels like a real problem TBH. It seems like it puts a pretty hard ceiling on the number of platforms that can break through to wider acceptance/usage.

Without knowing the technical difficulties, but I'd wager that building modular tools that make it easier to build mobile apps in general, and ones that are more platform agnostic, would be a massive contribution to the fediverse.

@Austin @Chris Trottier @Hank G ☑️
It doesn't answer your question about the app, but venera.social is available to join if you want to try Friendica out.

What isfriendica? Is there a client for it that's accessible with screenreaders?

@gocu54 Friendica is a Facebook platform for the Fediverse. There's not many apps that are compatible with it, but you can use it with Fedilabs -- which I believe is accessible with screenreaders.

Friendica supports almost all apps currently on the market for iOS and Android. With Relatica, the special functions of Friendica are supported.

@traccer Which apps do you recommend I use for IOS? I hope there's one that's accessible with voiceover. I'd totally wana get involved if all seems good. I love this new way of social media.

@gocu54
Personally, I use mammoth. I have had good experiences with tootle. Alternatively, Ivory is also on my list.

@traccer thank you for the recommendations. I'll get back to you about the status of accessibility.

@gocu54 If the basic functions of the Fediverse are required, the Mastodon APP will also run.

@Hank G ☑️ Apologies, but I'm not sure how to DM as I'm very new to Friendica. Is there a Test Flight invite available to test the Friendica app?
