At first glance, it could easily be mistaken for a Viking relic. But it’s actually a coin from the Himyarite Kingdom, showcasing the ancient Musnad script—one of the earliest forms of Arabic writing.

The resemblance between Musnad and Viking runes is astonishing, sparking curiosity about the potential visual and cultural parallels between these two distinct civilizations.

is that actual currency? It's incredibly elaborate.

I'm using a search engine, and the only image I find of it has been deleted (on Reddit), and the only very similar coin is related to a video game 🤔. All other currency related to "himyanite kingdom musnad coin" look much less elaborate, more crude.

I'd love a pointer to more info!

A funerary stele from Vári, Greece (420 BC), portrays a poignant scene: a young woman holding a bird toward her infant brother, who reaches up to grasp it. The accompanying epigram reveals their tragic story—they were siblings who perished together. Their grieving parents commissioned the stele in their memory.

Vanishingly rare & beautiful 15th c Norwich dead Christ. Such stained glasses were the first target of the puritan iconoclasts & so next to none survive. Behind the halo the sun is in eclipse .(Mark 15 v 33) "When the 6th hour came darkness fell over the whole land.."

Scientists say the Ethiopian wolf, the world’s rarest wild dog, might be the first known large carnivore to pollinate, as the canines lick red hot poker flowers to get their sweet fix.

This unbelievable piece of magnificent craftsmanship makes me rethink the lifestyle of the ancient Roman era.

It's mind-boggling to think that a Roman glass work from 300 AD can survive intact. This one is at the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier, an archaeological museum in Trier, Germany.

If you want to narrow down searches on Mastodon, there are special operators you can include in your search ("operator" in this context just means a special phrase).

For example if you want to only search posts you've interacted with in some way, include the operator in:library

Mastodon has lots of special operators like this, you can see them all in the guide at:

➡️ fedi.tips/how-do-i-search-for-…

You can also use multiple operators to make searches even more specific.

Ah okay, I see what you mean, yes!

I think the normal search just searches the content of the post but does not include the name of the author of the post.

The from: operator lets you include the name of the author in the search so yes, you're absolutely right, in that situation it does broaden the results. I stand corrected.

@video It’s really cool! Trying it now. One thing I notice is, if I minimise safari on my iPhone then the music stops entirely. I’m pretty sure there are other sites that I’ve used where the music keeps playing even when not in focus. That would be nice so I can use my phone for other things 😅 Now I’m listening through the Cuterdio app, but that loses all of the fediverse and social stuff.
