I've known that the local supermarket has done boxes of vegetables, past their best but still edible) for £2 but I've never seen them before.
Now I know why - this is what we got today!

The first self-propelled wheelchair was invented in 1655 by Stephen Farfler (1633-1689). Farfler had broken his back as a child, and this had rendered him paralyzed from the waist down.
At the age of 22, Farfler used his expertise as a clockmaker to create a wheeled chair that would allow him to move independently. The frame was based on a three-wheel chassis and worked by turning handles attached to a geared front wheel using a system of cranks and cogwheels.

Dear people of the US, guy from Germany here. Just a few thoughts from a country that once was ruled by a Nazi Führer.
If your Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) only enforces terror and injustice against unwanted minorities - it becomes the Gestapo.
If the National Guard only guards a dictator's interests - it becomes the SS.
If the president only presides over a repressive regime - he becomes a Führer.
It's as simple as that.
Rise up. Resist.
Before it's too late.

It was the year of the Great Darkness. Chameo, the Lord of DarkSky, became ever more erratic. His followers grew uneasy. Many were seen in the free fields of the Mastodonians, setting up temporary tents, talking to each other about the decline of DarkSky and occasionally asking a Mastodonian passer-by about life in the free fields.
What shall we do about the visitors from DarkSky, one of the knights asked the Lady Joan Mastodon.
Let them find their own way, she said. Most will return to Chameo, their souls are bound to the Great Algo, even if they don't know it themselves. But some will stay.
Those who stay will be welcome, make sure to help them settle. Those who wish to leave we shall not stop. We need not worry either way. Our task is unchanged: to make free expression resonate. Go, plant your hashtags now.

The Girls will come over for their autumn visit, Roamer, my Lady Joan said to me. I'll be in the kitchen all day. Feasts don't cook themselves. I shan't be tooting for a while.
She must have noticed my surprise.
Yes, Roamer, no toots from me until the Girls are here and the soup is on the table.
She stood up and raised her voice a little, as was her wont when she declared matters of principle. Three things are needed to fight the Great Algo: good toots, good hashtags, and quality meals shared with our friends. Don't forget the meals, Roamer. Don't forget the soup and the stew.

Well, this is interesting;
Defend Our Juries have set the Police (and behind them the Govt.) a real test in the wake of today's terrorist attack on a Synagogue in Manchester; focus your resources on the likely targets of terrorism, or use the police to arrest peaceful demonstrators in Central London.
You could not have a starker demonstration (pun intended) of how the proscription of Palestine Action has gone wrong (both practically & politically)

The difference between real terrorism and trumped up terrorism has never been more clear.
Will the Labour government face facts? Somehow, I doubt it. Every road of late in mainstream politics seems to be leading to police states and authoritarianism.
If I take a historical view, then present day democracies respond to change just about as well as the monarchies they took power from.
To big to fail?
But they still needed pulling out of the doodoo

It's true that Zack was previously a member of another party but he did leave the Lib-Dems back in 2017 so more like he disembarked rather than jumped ship.
I certainly did jump ship in 2023 from Starmer's Labour to the Greens

in reply to Steve • • •IMHO Greens represent an aggregation of jumbled aspirations, mainly good intentions. What I feel it doesn’t need is a colourful egotist rather than the considered pragmatism that Lucas applied.
Currently I’m not a member of any party.

Davey pranks & alienates those who might seriously consider his party.
Polanski deludes himself that he rules the world.
Starmer, Badenoch & Flynn lose the room through irrelevance & error.
