I've written a blog post about influencers, parasocial dynamics, and social media. I look at the way most social media props up monolithic, hugely influential accounts with millions of followers, and punishing anyone who isn't reaching for maximum engagement. I compare this to the way that the Social Web operates, where we end up with accounts that aren't nearly as parasocial, and where much more people feel comfortable contributing to the conversation. Tried to help a seagull with a large fishook stuck in it's beak. Sadly it was still quick enough to evade me & fly on top of a building. Out of reach.

Called the local rescue centre, but they can't do anything, they told me. Kind of sad, knowing the bird will probably starve to death without help.

Shot the annual Shiny Side Up bike and car show in San Jose yesterday... no, it's not that kind of bike show.

This is a very Northern California kind of show. It's a low rider "cruiser bike" and low rider car show with other kinds of bike and bike related celebrations included.

One of those bike celebrations are BMX stunt performances. I'll have additional photos from the show coming soon, but some of the BMX shots are just too fun not to share.
