Were you alive when Windows 95 was new? Remember Microsoft Comic Chat? I loved it. They open sourced it on July 16th! Thanks, @shanselman & crew! I *had* to modernize the app but keep the classic feel. No IRC, but E2E encrypted chats with others (invite even more to view your live comic chat). Taking feedback, but I'll dodge Comic Sans complaints:

New here — my #introduction!

Parent by day, tinkerer by night. I build small web tools and experiments, and I'm curious about decentralized, ad-free social spaces.

Jelly UI is a dependency-free Web Components library for "soft, tactile product interfaces"... soft-body physics, with dark mode, right-to-left support and WCAG AA color tokens built in.

"Celsius" is an outdoor thermometer web app indicating the current temperature wherever you are. Allow geolocation, and "Celsius" will show how warm or how cold it is at your place. Buttons allow for both remeasuring and toggling between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The app uses HTML geolocation to determine your current location and retrieves the temperature data from the Open-Meteo network.

Hive mind:
- German keyboards have different layout than en-us. The same for letters. But special characters significantly different.
- User needs to input their email into a form. They will 99% of the time struggle to find an `@` symbol on a physical keyboard.
- I want UX solution for the form that would make it easier for the users.

Any hints appreciated. Use pictures if necessary.

Question about #PersonalWebsites and #Indieweb design, maybe should tag #webdev too....

I want to eventually make many small galleries on my static site. I just made this one as a start:

satellite.eilloh.net/ships

I'm trying to keep the code very simple, since I'm doing all this by hand. This page I made seems to work well for me, but I'm curious whether it's bad form to not use thumbnails? I'd rather not, if I don't have to, as that's more to do and more to clutter up my files. Is it okay to just use CSS to make the huge photos small? Does the answer to this question change depending on the number of photos I want to cram into one page?

Hi. I'm the Tootmaster at toots.inbutts.lol. I'm a #sysadmin for fun.

I'm a professional #webdev. I make #email with #maizzle, landing pages with #11ty, and web apps with #laravel.

I GM #ttrpg, usually #dnd #5e or #pathfinder #2e or #MorkBorg.

I'm rewriting my #introduction since I had to restore from a backup that did not contain it! My last good backup was on the 14th of April, 2025. If you're seeing this because we were once mutuals, please ⭐ so I can *rebuild my following list.*

> I can’t understand how we got to this place with “app culture”! Software companies are happy to make their lives harder (and more expensive: deploying to the big app stores isn’t free!), in order to deliver HTML content to fewer people and with fewer features danq.me/2026/07/09/your-app-co… #WebDev #Programming
