I've found that you better quit using Firefox., too
They have stopped offering the "Do Not Track" options.
There's a fork named #LibreWolf, you ca use instead.
Get rid of google stuff entirely. Contacts, mail, calendar -> @mailbox_org + @davx5app
Photos cloud sync -> @ente
Videoconferencing -> @OpenTalkMeeting
Its fairly simple. If someone cant do it on its own, help them.
I never left the Mosaic, Netscape, Firefox line of developments. And quite happy with that. Since 1993.

lynx.
No. But how utterly surprising. Nowadays I use Safari but when I had a GUI linux box (now it’s just the server and the one with a GUI, fedora, is down for a while) I used firefox.
I am surprised you still used chrome. Google talks about how safe and secure chrome is and how many attacks chrome prevents but it’s rubbish like this that does the exact opposite. But it’s unsurprising sadly.

weird that ladybird wasn't mentioned.
personally i haven't tested, but worth mentioning.
chromium is developed by google. however, mozilla takes google's money to develop firefox. maybe firefox based is less worse, but there is still google's money and influence somehow.
I don’t understand why anyone uses a browser created by the company that turned humanity into a commodity.
We *know* Google sees us as lemmings to be captured and sold. Why feed your captor?
I switched away from Chrome years ago.
YouTube tried to stop me from using an adblocker, but it's easy to get around with Brave. I've heard of problems with Brave's CEO, but it just works for me usually.
If the scandal with Brave is too much for you, Firefox, Vivaldi, or Opera are good too. There's also Chromium which is basically de-googled chrome.
Don't let them feed you garbage advertising.
Pro-tip: many VPNs can do adblocking as well.
Origin Lite is inferior in many ways. For instance, its rules can be updated only when a new version is published, there are no custom rules, etc.
A better solution is to change browser. I'm quite happy with Brave, used Opera and Vivaldi before that, which are also OK. Despite being Chromium-based like Chrome, Brave doesn't have this shit, so the extension works. Plus, Brave has its own built-in ad blocking, which wouldn't be subject to this crap, even if the crap were to be ported from Chromium, because it is browser-based, not extension-based.
Somehow I have never seen a clear reason to switch. From #Firefox to Chrome that is. Google gets enough data already.
Yes, granted, Firefox had a long bad stretch on Android with almost no extensions available. But at least it always *had* extensions. Why would I use a browser (Chrome) that is utterly unusable on mobile and hence desktop-only?
With Firefox I've always had a usable browser on *all* of my devices. Including syncing of tabs and other cross-device convenience features.
If they do the same, Firefox is next.
It has always been time to switch to Firefox (don't ignore the anti-FF type lately, follow it and comment as a user… also check out waterfox)
(I worked at NSCP back in the day, Core Technologies)
If you're a Vivaldi user (chromium fork) then give Zen Browser (Firefox fork) as they're both superior asthetically. Zen has the benefit of Firefox extentions.
But yeah, Firefox is probably the safest bet for usability.
i use Firefox-ESR (Extended Support Release) + uBlock Origin.
I like ESR cause its rock stable, and on ublock added the experience on the web its unmatched

Facebook has been hosting paid adverts for charities fundraising for Israeli army battalions accused of war crimes and lawmakers encouraging the resettlement of the Gaza Strip.
Eko, a US-based campaigning organisation, identified 98 Facebook adverts targeting Europe and the US to solicit funds for Israeli army equipment, including advanced thermal drones, assault rifle sights, armour, night vision goggles and helmets.

A US judge ruled in favor of Meta Platforms' WhatsApp on Friday in a lawsuit against "Israel's" NSO Group, accusing the company of exploiting a vulnerability in the app to install spy software for unauthorized surveillance.
US District Judge Phyllis Hamilton in Oakland, California, granted WhatsApp's motion and determined NSO was liable for hacking and breach of contract.
Merci d'avance !
The first time Palestinian actress Maisa Abd Elhadi was arrested was just days after the October 7 attacks.
At 11 a.m. on Oct. 12, 2023, the police showed up at her home in Nazareth, illegally confiscated her phone, and proceeded to take her to the city’s central police station.
There, she learned that she was being investigated over two posts she had shared on Instagram on October 7.
