I finally decided to upgrade my Trusty Boox Air Note 2+ with a 5C. Expensive, but I got a lot of good mileage out of my 2+ so I’m ok to spend some money on a very significant upgrade.
Looking forward to getting it. 
bleh you can see the frame of the display if you look at it from specific angles. but only on one side. i dunno if thats just how the part works or because one of the heat screw terminals is a little wonky.
i dunno its DIY shit there's always gonna be scuff.
rotary encoder took the big shit. i was able to get it to random scramble back to 300C but i can no longer really adjust the heat or use menus 
amazon has the pinecil listed but i've been generally unimpressed with pine (i realize the pinecil is one of their only products people actually like.)
might be tempted to just get another quicko. i already have a whole feita tip set for those if i get a pinecil or a fanttik its another set of tips to manage

I wear my PineTime at work, which is an extremely rough environment for electronics and its held up 100% perfectly. I like that it has an always on screen now, I legit really like it. There I want the time and notifications.
But when I’m out being fashionable I reach for the “vintage” Casio for sure.
oh mines not fashionable. its a very functional model. looks roughly like your average g-shock, but it has [gentle] vibration alarms. 
i don't think there are any timelines where i wear gaudy status "time pieces." true alpha behavior is not giving a fucking shit

Talking with @pixel1 made me realize how much our US-based infra affects their Pixelfed experience vs mine.
The latency I don't even notice is a constant friction for them.
We're fixing this: better PWA support, offline mode, sync capabilities, and moving services to a globally distributed infrastructure.
As more people from growing economies come online, we can't assume everyone is from the US or has 5G.
We need to check our privilege and build for the real world, not just our bubble.

But it seems illegal releases are seldom recaptured unless they annoy lots of people. The illegal ones in Devon and Cornwall from years ago are doing well, it seems.

I don’t know if anyone is coordinating such a thing, but all of these beavers, wilds included where possible, should be being dna-typed for future breeding and health issues. Building a resilient and diverse population is not random.
