After moths of wrangling & some watering down, Labour's Employment Rights Bill has been passed today by the House of Lords, leaving its passage into law now unobstructed.
Now the Q. will be whether it *does* transform work in the UK, and by doing so start to reverse the negative impact of the country's often dysfunctional labour relations?... we can but hope.
Even after it gets Royal Assent we will still have to see what transpires with Commencement Orders, Regulations and other secondary legislation relating to it.

I read The Female Frontier: A Comparative View of Women on the Prairie and the Plains by Glenda Riley in high school and it stuck with me all this time (I'm nearly 50!). It really does a good job exploring the "wild west" from the view point of women. It's based on diaries, contemporary accounts, and public records. It's more of an academic read, but worth going through to get the full picture of what life was like.

Dat consumenten überhaupt nog zo een antiek aangedreven vehikel willen kopen, snap ik dan weer niet. Compleet ouderwetse techniek uit vervlogen tijden. Elektrisch rijden is veel aangenamer 😀.
Ik vind de elektrische auto's te groot. Alleen Chinese zijn een beetje klein. De rest zijn halve tanks. Daarom rijd ik nog steeds in mijn 13 jaar oude Hyundai (een nieuwe koop ik dan weer niet)
Ja, moderne auto's zijn groter dan auto's van meer dan 10 jaar geleden. Als ik een nieuwe Hyundai zou kopen ( wat ik niet van plan ben) is ie ook groter. Ik zou het mooi vinden als wat innovatiekracht zou gaan naar echt weer bescheiden maken van auto's. Ik vermoed dat de batterij bij elektrisch dat nu moeilijk maakt.
Dan rij je in een mini dopje. Ik vind het al geen pretje om met de kleine elektrische auto op de snelweg te zitten tussen al het auto- én vrachtwagengeweld. Eigenlijk vind ik het in de grotere elektrische auto niet een prettig... Wat een ongelofelijke aso's zitten er op de weg...
Geen idee op welke tijdstippen jij op de weg zit en hoe vaak als bijrijder waarbij je uitgebreid bij mensen naar binnen kunt gluren maar snelheid is niet het grootste probleem...
Gewicht omlaag is nogal lastig als mensen actieradius-vrees hebben... 🙄
@Nienkez Mijn lief privateleast een Citroen C1. In mei 2026 moet ze die inruilen, dan is zijn maximum termijn verstreken. Maar wat is een goed alternatief voor hetzelfde geld? Ze wil best wel elektrisch, maar ze heeft geen laadpaal in de buurt en bij haar voor de deur kan dat ook niet.
@apenkop @Nienkez ze heeft ook geen tankstation voor de deur neem ik aan? Maar een Renault 5 of zo heeft een mooie actieradius en kan ze waarschijnlijk wel een paar dagen zonder laden mee rond karren en dan ergens eens aan de laadpaal hangen.
Als je nog even kunt wachten, wordt de Renault e-Twingo een optie. Die is echt heel scherp geprijsd; in Frankrijk onder de 20.000 euro. Moet je wel voor 500 euro de 11 kW-laadfunctie bijbestellen. @apenkop @Nienkez
Lijkt me zo leuk! Dan zijn nu de drie iconen, de 'echte' twingo, de R4 en R5 weer op de weg, wat een genot! Daar kan Citroën dan toch weer een puntje aan zuigen. Misschien eens een elektrieke race-eend?
@apenkop Er zijn plannen geweest voor een elektrische neo-retro eend. Maar die kwamen niet ver. Die elektrische Twingo is echter subliem. Overigens rijden wij momenteel in een Hyundai Inster die ook een dikke aanrader is. Ontzettend slim karretje! @FediWouter @Nienkez

Mit solchem Verhalten bekommt man keine Leute, so schreckt man ab. Und verliert aktive Menschen. Das ist schade. Und bitter für alle, die gehen
einzelne Menschen bashen ist nie zielführend, aber "nicht intendiert" würd ich doch relativieren. Die Ignoranz auf Wikipedia ist systematisch und die eigene oder die kollektive Haltung nicht ändern wollen, ist schon eine Entscheidung.
@PaulaToThePeople Das motiviert dann Lösch-Herren dazu, den Artikel beibehalten zu wollen, um gegen den ausdrücklichen Wunsch der betroffenen Person zu handeln.
1) das war Stunden BEVOR ich nen Löschantrag für den betreffenden Eintrag gestellt hatte! Die bloße Nennung als Negativbeispiel in der Löschdiskussion zum Wiki-Eintrag von @Katika reichte, um einen #Bro zu aktivieren und den 5 Jahre nicht mehr angefassten Eintrag zu optimieren.
2) dieselbe identische Person argumentierte aber gleich mehrfach für die Löschung von Katikas Eintrag!
