I went to get a closer look at the lichen on this big old fir, and noticed the bark was absolutely swarming with these insects. They don’t look like the bark beetles that I can find in a search; anyone know? The wing pattern is quite distinctive. #mosstodon #LichenSubscribe #entomology #bugstodon

My 81 year old mother texted me today to ask if I had any yarn in my stash I'm not planning to use anytime soon. This was a little unusual because she mostly sews and quilts, she hasn't knitted regularly in years. I asked her what she needed yarn for and she said "I found a great pattern for an #IceOut hat and I'm going to start making them to give out at church."

The republic survives, for now.

@kimlockhartga She does mostly traditional geometric quilts, she has tried a 'scene' once or twice but she likes doing the patterns better.

Bold geometric patterns can be beautifully dramatic. I wish I had more of my mom's work, but other people deserve the opportunity to enjoy her work, too.

It's hard to explain if you don't know my mom, but this is huge. She's a former public school teacher who has always been (compared to me) a very timid, very moderate, very milk-n-cookies apolitical person. She often felt the teachers' union was going too far with its demands.

But Temu Mussolini has enraged, radicalized, and activated her in a way that I - someone who has known her all my life - did not believe was possible.

They're cooked, chat. They just don't know it yet. #USPol #IceOut

Playing with horror tropes for this one. In the 90s, I remember people saying cell phones ruined a lot of horror plots. It's 2026, and I'm pretty sure we can build isolation with a working smartphone in the protagonist's hand. You can have five bars, but it doesn't mean you're going to get through to anyone who can help or even take you seriously.

Bought subscription to ESPN to watch the CO Mammath.

Guess I bought β€œESPN Select” whatever the fuck that is.

Home game tonight, but not able to go. Requires β€œESPN+” which I thought was the app.

Fuck tech companies. Fuck Disney. This is why people pirate things.
