Thank you @dansup for writing the letter.

Can you post it as primarily text, on this text medium, so it is much more accessible? Also more easily quoted and referenced and linked to.

Is there a special way to install esr91 on the pinetab2? I followed flypig.co.uk/geckoinstall and it installed but its crashing on start after a few seconds. Is there a way to troubleshoot this? I found a few github issues but they all seem hybris related.
in reply to Luigi311

@Luigi311 All you need to do is install sailfish, then upgrade to 5.0.0.51
devel-su
ssu-re 5.0.0.51
ssu ur
zypper ref
zypper dup
in reply to Adam Pigg

Im assuming its ssu re since ssu-re doesnt exist. It seemed to run into a lot of errors about missing packages and checksum errors on your kernel adaptation. I told it to continue anyways but upon rebooting looks like its still on 4.6.0.13 sauna according to the ssh greeting and the about product page
in reply to Luigi311

@Luigi311 Feel free to paste me all the output. yes, its ssu re ... im not sure if 5.0.0.51 is public yet, "zypper ls" will show if the repo is valid
in reply to Adam Pigg

That would be great! Heres the pastbin
pastebin.com/YJkkcmP4
in reply to Luigi311

@Luigi311 Ah, see hoe jolla and apps repos are invalid ... i guess its not public yet. please just wait until its available generally :)
in reply to Adam Pigg

I take it it's only released for the C2 and no general release date in sight?
in reply to Adam Pigg

Out of curiosity i tried doing 5.0.0.43 since that was released last month (only to c2) and it looks like the update has way less errors during the update process but then fails to boot so i guess i shall wait for 5.0.0.51.
in reply to Luigi311

@Luigi311 that might be my fault for breaking the kernel package yesterday :) ... 5.0.0.43 -should- work, but doesnt have the fixed browser for native/mesa devices

I’ve finally got around to installing #ublueaurora on my main personal laptop, a 10 year old 11” MacBook Air.

Credit to @jorge and @UniversalBlue for engaging with the bullshit required to get the Broadcom WiFi working out if the box. *chef’s kiss*

Everything seems to work perfectly except the webcam but that is a nightmare under Linux so I’ll survive.

How scientists with disabilities are making research labs and fieldwork more accessible

Summary

Scientists with disabilities are addressing barriers in labs and fieldwork by promoting accessibility through advocacy and creative solutions.

Disabled people comprise only 3% of the STEM workforce, partly because labs, classrooms, and field sites are often inaccessible.

Many are told they can't work safely, says Mark Leddy, a former National Science Foundation official.

Groups like the International Association for Geoscience Diversity organize inclusive field trips, using tools like drones and assistive apps.

Advocates stress that accessibility benefits everyone and emphasize the value of disabled scientists' problem-solving skills and perspectives.

in reply to MicroWave

This is good. We need to make way more of the world accessible
in reply to MicroWave

This is great stuff. I personally had to change my dream career path because of a disability and I can't begin to imagine how happy I'd be if I could still access it.

"But there are two things worth noting here though, I think:

Democrats, even Biden himself, have in some key ways helped expedite the formation of the very oligarchy they are now decrying, and

We must understand that the tech oligarchy is already here. It has been for years. It’s only now more openly and aggressively expressing itself as such."

It puzzles me why would Trump start deportations in places where he and his policies aren't welcome. It would be obvious to start mass deportations in states like Louisiana or Texas where the majority wants it. Why Chicago? Maybe he realizes the economic and societal fallout and his goal is just to cause misery in the anti-Trump bastions?
