Is 4chan doing enough to protect kids?

That’s what UK regulator Ofcom is investigating under Online Safety Act rules, alongside complaints about “the potential for illegal content and activity” on the platform. Anyone familiar with the controversial web forum could have this probe wrapped up by lunch, but let’s see how long it takes them.

Remember, kids, nothing Israel has done justifies October 7th, but also, October 7th justifies everything Israel is doing.

In my experience, GNOME on Wayland had been terribly unstable on Fedora (I assume it's instability with my Nvidia card).

I need help with a joke, please. Must be completely clean, no inuendo, no swearing. Clever is more important than Funny.

It starts like this:

Markdown, Emacs, and Vim walked into a bar…

I don't know how it should end. Throw 'em at me! Seems like a good header for next week's #PTPL post but it's gotta have a punchline or it won't work.

As a Neovim user myself, and recent Emacs enthusiast (not for coding though) I can see now how this is like comparing apples and oranges.

But it was a funny read :D

Also this should go on:

".org enters the room and finds .md and vim in bed...yuck!"

org-mode! I'm re-building my Logseq workflow in Emacs with org-mode and org-roam, and a bunch of other packages and (((()))).

So basically a PKM system and also task management.

I'm tired of enshittification and also of electron apps.

@mauro I do everything in Neovim with some plugins, and some little homemade scripts.

Will you document your journey ? It would be nice to read about it

I'd love to, although I'm quite busy right now, but it's one of many blog posts drafts in my backlog!

I'll get to it eventually...

I'll let you know!

if only there was package that added flawless modal/Vim editing to Emacs. Which I could do package-install [somepackage] and be rid of all the ridiculous key combinations of Emacs

"One of the challenges presented by these clusters of data centres, says Showalter, is that ‘you then end up loading an awful lot onto a power grid and a locality very fast, which means figuring out how to deal with that. So, either you build out the grid or you build your own power source and essentially create a cul-de-sac of your own energy use.’"

Met zijn thrillers vestigde Frederick Forsyth een nieuw genre, waarin de plot draait om een alternatieve maar geloofwaardige versie van echte gebeurtenissen op het wereldtoneel. Maandag overleed de Britse schrijver.

Predator: Killer of Killers knows how to do a lot with very little

It seems like the movie Trachtenberg was going for here was way too risky and way too ambitious for a studio to green-light it normally. But if he can do that on a fraction of budget. As animation. And not a budget, something like Pixar uses for their ultra-realistic stuff and fluent motion. But on a fraction of that. He can use the trend of animating on-twos and making everything painterly, to cut all of the corners necessary to make this insane movie with the small amount of money that he is given.

Well done, #Labour !

Italy and Israeli spyware maker Paragon said they have ended contracts following allegations that the Italian government used the company’s technology to hack the phones of critics.

Both sides said they had severed ties, giving conflicting accounts that triggered widespread criticism from opposition parties in Italy, while the journalists’ federation FNSI called on prosecutors to investigate to ascertain the facts.
