What best describes how you interact with foreign language content on Mastodon?
Obviously not all content is treated the same, mostly I'm curious about first option vs other options.
Personally I like to try if it's something like Dutch, German or French where I either have some proficiency or there's a lot of shared grammar/vocab with languages I know, but I think machine translation nowadays is good enough that I can enjoy most content written in almost any language.

- Frequently use machine translations (0%, 0 votes)
- Try to read, fall back to machine translations (63%, 7 votes)
- Try to read, or ignore if I don't get it (27%, 3 votes)

I think the use of ‘foreign language’ to mean ‘unfamiliar language’ may be exemplified with such phrases as ‘Teaching English as a foreign language’. Although, strictly speaking, this means ‘Teaching English in a country, where it is not the main language’, it may be taken by many to mean ‘Teaching English as a second, unfamiliar or non-native language’. The Wikipedia article describes this confusion.
