Two interesting details from the unsealed indictment against Russian agents in the US:

1. Russia has multiple influencer operations, indicating this indictment about Tenet could be just the first in a series.

2. The Russian agents were directing the stories told by the MAGA influencers, who willingly complied and delivered the Russian propaganda straight to YouTube, X, etc.

All good things must come to an end. I've had a column in the WSJ Weekend Review for >7 years, writing about the physics of dogs, cheese, clouds, sweaters & more.

But after 77 columns, formats are changing and sadly this is my last one: How to Hear Underwater like a Whale

Democracy For The Arab World Now (Dawn) filed a complaint against the US Department of State in a bid for it to release documents related to allegations of human rights abuses by the Israeli military.

The Leahy Law prohibits the US from providing arms or military assistance to foreign militaries that violate human rights. The US State Department has an "Israel Leahy Vetting Forum" as part of the law.

The Israeli military early Friday withdrew from the northern West Bank cities of Jenin, Tulkarm and their refugee camps, following 10 days of incursion and assaults, killing 36 Palestinians and injuring dozens more.

Witnesses told Anadolu that the Israeli forces pulled out of Tulkarm and its refugee camp after having withdrawn from Jenin and its camp just hours earlier.

“Ever-worsening shortages of water and electricity. Catastrophic flooding in dense urban areas. Food insecurity exacerbated by drastic temperature increases, reduction in overall rainfall, and the long-term impact of toxic chemicals.”

This is what climate researchers Khalil Abu Yahia, Natasha Westheimer, and Mor Gilboa, writing in +972 Magazine more than two years ago, predicted was in store for Gaza’s near-term future.

The political group "Liste Gaza," which is running in Austria's general elections on Sept. 29, aims to bring Palestine into the national spotlight through the ballot box with the slogan "Vote Against Genocide," in stark contrast to parties remaining silent over Israel's nearly 11-month-long onslaught against Palestinians.

The group, uniting diverse civil organizations, will contest in seven of Austria's nine states.

"Crucially, unlike other medical freedom organizations, Four Thieves isn’t suggesting people treat COVID with Ivermectin, isn’t shilling random supplements, and doesn’t have any sort of commercial arm at all. Instead, they are helping people to make their own, identical pirated versions of proven and tested pharmaceuticals by taking the precursor ingredients and performing the chemical reactions to make the medication themselves."

It’s hopeful to hear that the Four Thieves crew also feels hopeful at this moment. The story in the article of looking up how to make the medication the reporters family member needed but couldn’t get, and finding it could’ve been cheap and simple, was amazing. We can make this do-it-ourselves tech as ubiquitous as downloading an expensive textbook from the internet for free, or fixing up a community copy machine of Craigslist so we don’t have to rely on kinkos.

I am myself quite dependent on self-managed medical care. This is both because I don't have insurance and because I don't want anyone with the power to play Baker Act games (I am autistic) to know my legal name and address. There are enough improvised fixes on me and no medical history that I cannot trust a random doc not to play competency games.

Happy #BandcampFriday! If you're new to my music, the best place to start is here:

etherdiver.bandcamp.com/album/…

That's my most cohesive and polished release to date. It's still a deeply idiosyncratic and challenging musical vision, but it's as approachable as I get!

If you're already a fan, and/or are up for something a little looser, weirder and wilder, check out my latest release, Metaphysical Shitposting:

etherdiver.bandcamp.com/album/…

It's a collection of semi improvised and loosely structured pieces that explore the noisy side of ambient and kosmische, and occasionally go full freakout.

And if I may be so bold, if you're looking to spend a few $ on my music, the full discography is the way to go: get *everything* for less than the cost of 2 of my albums!
