The Tildeverse is a minimalistic community-driven Internet experience without the commercial bloatware

For many of us of a particular vintage, the internet blossomed in the ’90s with the invention of the Web and just a few years of development. Back then, we had the convenience of expression on the WWW and the backup of mature services such as IRC fo ...continues

We are living in an age of anger... as Josh Cohen suggests this is a result of a 'malign public care', an environment that thrives on stoking our anger & outrage, with little concern for veracity or justice.

This picture of our society is both distressing & plausible... the Q. is what can we do about it? (media & online regulation feel like attempting to shut the stable door now the horse has bolted)....

So it appears UK gov, and some others around the world are deliberately heaping illness on many of the current generation's grandchildren. Sudan, the Middle East, Ukraine, large parts of both Americas.
Just to bail out bankers and big businesses.

Richards is the last person I want to hear from on reproductive rights after she sold out in 2009 during the ACA debates.

She should have pressed hard, mounted a campaign from the left to ensure basic reproductive health care like birth control, breast exams, emergency treatment for pregnant women were covered under ACA. Instead she agreed to shut up because they promised her community center funding for Planned Parenthood.

And now women are bleeding out in parking lots. Nope.

Jonathan Freedland, Hadley Freeman, and David Aaronovitch have all declared they will no longer have anything to do with the Jewish Chronicle.

It took this bloody long for supposedly 3 intelligent writers/reporters/journalists to be slightly uncomfortable at the toxic manipulation of British Jewish opinion in order to uncritically support Israel whatever. Shame on them.

The reporting is good, the headline much too glib. "Winning streak." The destruction of democracy is not a game. #GoodTImes #BrokenTimes (Gift link)

Unfortunately, for the US, I fully accept that the New York Times does consider the destruction of democracy a win.

"Winning streak." Reminds me that anyone who says SCOTUS justices are neutral arbiters is lying or willfully ignorant. I think to certain justices, it *is* a game, a competition of ideologies.
