#FourYearsAgoToday #AreYouBetterOff

October 2, 2020 – In a tweet he sent at nearly 1 a.m. — just 32 days before the election — Trump said that he and the first lady had tested positive for the coronavirus. The president’s announcement followed months of his downplaying a disease that has killed more than 207,000 Americans and plunged the nation into an economic crisis.

Dr. Sean Conley, the White House physician, wrote in a memo that Trump was doing “very well.” Aides, however, said that Trump was coughing and had a fever, and he was flown by helicopter to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Over the coming days, more than a dozen people who had attended events at the White House or on the campaign trail contracted the virus.

Ah, yes, the famous "super spreader event." Super spreader events were quite common during the #Trump era of #Covid denial.

What’s the best way to improve a street?

Close it off to motor vehicles!

in reply to David Ho

Does feel mildly perverse to put so much bike parking and a bike hire depot behind a "no bikes" sign?

(Tbh I'm not 100% sure what those pictograms are getting at but I would not feel confident cycling behind that sign)

@Andrew @David Ho The sign looks like no motor vehicles to me -- no cars, no motorcycles, no mopeds.

Tried Linux LTS since it wasn't updated when I just did an update and it didn't help. I did update Nvidia stuff recently though, I wonder if that could be causing it indirectly since it's also causing Wayland to not work.

Nintendo shows off Mario, Zelda, and 135 years of history in a new Kyoto museum

The Nintendo Museum opens in Kyoto, Japan, today. Mario and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto never expected the company to make the museum, since it has an ethos of letting its games speak for themselves.

There's a wealth of exhaustive reissues covering Duster Bennett's recordings from the 60's and 70's out there, but there has never been an attempt at a best of set that could act as an introduction to this unique artist... John Mayall and Peter Green certainly recognised and championed Duster, as did DJ John Peel, for whom Duster recorded many sessions... Duster was the real deal, I have many happy memories of seeing him perform with his girlfriend Stella Sutton... So if you like the blues download my Duster selection and prepare to be blown away, enjoy!

1. Snarky. Not necessarily wrong, but harsh.

2. The more I look at the growth (middle-aged spread?) of FOSS, the more I tend to think that the smaller the niche tool & its user base, that if it survives & gets maintained, the more significant it is

in reply to Liam Proven

As a Lisper TCL always looked to me as trying to do Perl code -which itself it's a mix between awk/sed/sh mimicking C- a la Lisp way.
Everything it's a string instead of Lisp lists, but the l* functions almost map the Lisp ones on data handling.
