"Whenever we fail to make simple things easy in software engineering, and webdev especially, we are failing society in the exact same way."
Rabbit hole: stumbling across two Portuguese punched cards

Look, here's the thing, I don't like mysteries that involve technology. I think I hate them because I know that some other human created the thing I'm staring at and, dammit, I should be able to understand it.

mastodon.archive.org/@avdempse… avdempsey@mastodon.archive.org - I’m looking for a software engineer to join my team at the Internet Archive. We work mostly Pacific hours but are fully and forever remote (we do have a lovely SF HQ if you're in the neighborhood). Our department uses Python, Django, Temporal.io, Postgres, and some in-house database technologies to build web archiving and other digital preservation services for over 1000 partner cultural heritage and memory institutions.

Over on Twitter there is this letter of a GP saying they're cutting off their trans patients from treatment in six months owing to their sudden unreliability to provide safe service.
And all I'd say is as the letter has been written over two pages, to me that seems that the GP involved really doesn't want to do it, but are being forced to protect themselves from the state's collective mass anti-trans hysteria.
If they were anti-trans too, it'd be curt and in a few paragraphs.

George, I am very appreciative of your activism. When lots of other people would just enjoy retirement, you're fighting the good fight.
But I have reached my limit with media that mines X for its material. There are so many other places to get the same thing.
And Elon Musk is evil. Using X for anything supports him. Please ask Comic Sands to use another source. I think they'd listen to you.
