Why is Xcode’s iPhone Simulator yelling this at me all the time

Why

in reply to Andrew Plotkin

*mumbling very quietly* in practice it's probably an issue with mach ports in the simulated OS, if there is a Mac OS system update you have not yet installed I recommend installing it, if not I recommend filing a bug with the apple developer program bugreport.apple.com/ or whatever they're calling it these days
in reply to mcc

Used to when the iOS Simulator was booting up it would log vast quantities of startup nonsense to Console.app, I assume it's still doing this somewhere, this startup log would be especially useful if you file a bug report.
in reply to mcc

@mcc Maybe I’ll wait until I see some feedback on the last bug I filed. (Unrelated, about tvOS icons, but it’s been a year.)

In 2020, IRS agent Tigran Gambaryan traced and seized 69,370 bitcoins stolen from the Silk Road drug market.

Now, as those coins are set to be sold off by the US gov—$4.4 billion, the biggest criminal seizure ever to flow into the treasury—he's in jail in Nigeria.

Remember during Katrina, when ppl locked up in jails or prisons were left behind while staff evacuated, and they drowned?

It's happening again, in Florida this time.

EU plans to step up support for Lebanon in absence of ceasefire

“We have to help this country. We have to use this opportunity of Hezbollah’s weakness to strengthen Lebanon’s political structures, and we have to bring about a ceasefire in the region,” EU’s top diplomat said.

in reply to European News 🇪🇺

Sounds good, there has to be a political way out of this rather than the endless cycle of bloodshed, however the EU / West need to learn that they need to plan LONG term so the country is supported to counter Hezbollah, then helped to fully rebuild so the people have hope for the future and confidence who ever runs the country will put the peoples interest first.

Al Jazeera cameraman injured by Israeli gunfire

Al Jazeera cameraman Fadi al-Wahidi has been injured by Israeli gunfire in northern Gaza, becoming the second Al Jazeera cameraman to be injured in an Israeli attack this week.
in reply to Crikeste

As opposed to... Supporting Trump, who has told Israel to finish the job? Who has no interest even feigning a possibility of a two state solution? The one who stopped aiding Ukraine in 2019? Who's supporters have made trans and POC politicians step down because they wouldn't stop receiving death threats after Trump was elected? Who singlehandedly dismantled the EPA to kill corporate regulations, the CDC resulting in the deaths of millions of Americans, and our education system by planting Betsy DeVoss, whose brother is Eric Prince founder of Blackwater?
in reply to averyminya

Well no Trump does not oppose them. You cannot name someone on the same side as Kamala Harris as an opponent.

Israeli Troops Have Repeatedly Filmed Themselves Committing War Crimes

A new documentary from Al Jazeera takes a look at evidence of war crimes in Gaza in the form of social media posted by Israeli soldiers recording and celebrating their own attacks on Palestinians. We play excerpts from the film Investigating War Crimes in Gaza, now available online, and speak to two of the journalists involved in its production, director Richard Sanders and Gaza-based correspondent Youmna ElSayed. “Israelis themselves were telling us precisely what they were doing and why they were doing it,” says Sanders about the evidence the team reviewed. “They don’t think it’s complicated. They don’t think it’s nuanced. Their rhetoric is often overtly genocidal.” ElSayed adds, “They’ve had all the courage to do that because they know that they are not even going to be condemned.”
in reply to Alsephina

Similar situation going on in Israeli prisons. In case anyone wants to know how detainees are treated, it’s war crimes everywhere you look. This CNN investigation is incredibly upsetting, but very detailed and well-sourced.

It isn’t something everyone at Walmart cares about, but I’d argue not supporting Apple Pay—at any retailer—excludes disabled people from accessible payment methods.

It’s a service blah blah blah, but “can’t innovate, my ass” absolutely applies to the Apple Pay UX.

I sometimes dream of an alternate universe where a few key elections, FTC/FCC decisions, and court cases went different ways and we now live in a utopia where things like NFC payment protocols are regulated utilities and every vendor is required to support them.

That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.

Hang on to your seats, because this one's a wild ride. Literally.

Lamborghini Carjackers Lured by $243M Cyberheist

The parents of a 19-year-old Connecticut honors student accused of taking part in a $243 million cryptocurrency heist in August were carjacked a week later — while out house-hunting in a brand new Lamborghini. Prosecutors say the couple was beaten and briefly kidnapped by six young men who traveled from Florida as part of a botched plan to hold the parents for ransom.
