Started a mech helmet modeling project in that other SDF add-on for Blender, ConjureSDF.

Both ConjureSDF and Blob Fusion have their own advantages, which I've summed up in the "SDF modeling in Blender" section of this Blender Artists post:

@ryangorley Good question. My explanation would be that Blender internally calculates rotation values in radians, not degrees, so a full 360-degree revolution takes approximately 6.3 seconds when the values of the seconds node are fed to the rotation axis value increments.

Managed to get github.com/prasanthrangan/hypr… and Hyprland to work on Fedora Asahi Remix, on a Macbook Air M1!

Super happy about it because Apple hardware is top notch, but macOS, not so much....

So, I was waiting for Black Friday to buy my new laptop, but this morning, Best Buy put it on sale at $699 ($400 off!). So I got it! and also got a 2TB SSD for it.

Good by old HP laptop, you have served me well for 7 years.

If all goes well, my new laptop will be set up soon.

I believe it. Copilot is pretty rough around the edges and Jetbrains’ offering is even worse. It’s good for bouncing ideas off of but it kind of still sucks for writing code. cio.com/article/3540579/devs-g…

@brakeoutgaming I have a healthy dose of skepticism believing stats from Amazon when they are a player in that game. A lot of the “oohs and ahhs” I’ve seen have been a lot of super tight cherry picked points massaged together.

I’m not saying it can’t or doesn’t help, and you make a fair point about it having a scaling effect based on proficiency, but the two particular tools I talked about tend to be pretty bad about the code they do output and are often just completely wrong.

in reply to Aaron

100%. Anything that Amazon published about productivity is likely to be propaganda.

Y'all should read @404mediaco's article about the new chapter of our dystopian hellscape: 404media.co/someone-put-facial…. Some folks built real-time facial recognition and identity lookups with Meta's smart glasses. They didn't open-source their code, but it's only a matter of time before this is accessible to any stalker or weirdo who wants to use it.
There's a way to opt out at least in part. See the thread, I can't fit it all here.

The pimeyes.com opt-out process has you obscure dates, ID numbers, and your address on your uploaded ID document. The facecheck.id opt-out process has you obscure your name, address, and ID number.
The overlap between those is just the address and ID number. If Pimeyes and Facecheck are colluding, or if they don't actually delete the uploaded license photo as they claim and they get hacked, the two uploaded images could easily be matched up to reconstruct most of your ID document.
Not great.

One more trivial thing I want to mention... Hey @404mediaco, you should put up web pages for your individual podcast episodes somewhere and put links to those pages in your RSS feed so that people can share specific episodes on social media.
Note that in this particular case the episode I was referring to above is the one entitled "The Smart Glasses That Dox Strangers", which is (right now) the most recent episode.

"The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees said Wednesday that at least 400,000 people are trapped in northern Gaza as Israeli forces ramp up their bombardment of the area, killing dozens and intensifying an already nightmarish humanitarian emergency.

"Zero humanitarian aid has entered besieged northern Gaza in over a week, according to aid groups and the U.N., and incessant Israeli attacks have rendered the area’s hospitals largely inaccessible. Israeli forces have ordered the area’s hospitals to evacuate, endangering patients and healthcare workers."

Google’s AI deals could hurt its search monopoly appeal, expert says

Google called the DOJ extending search remedies to AI "radical," an "overreach."

'radical', no less. I cannot remember any higher praise for a DOJ decision. Spot-on. 👍

The Fitbit Ace LTE, a great kids smartwatch, hits its lowest price

The Ace LTE is extremely cute and lets your kid call or text a preselected list of contacts. It’s a great alternative to a phone for younger kids.
