Saw this on a beach today. We haven’t the slightest idea what this actually is. Fossils, presumably. What kind of… animal? #geology #paleontology #ichnofossils #crowdsource

It's “interesting" to note how long Trump thinks a blow-job lasts…

I am wondering about the relationship between intending to say something and saying it. It seems to me that the following are both true:

1. Typically, when someone says P they intended to say P.

2. It is possible for someone to say P without intending to say P.

I have been thinking about this:

3. It is possible for someone to say P without intending to say anything.

Is there a good reason to accept or reject 3?

Ooh, looks like Woodpecker CI is getting support for running rootless images. Which means I should be able to set up CI for Kitten* on @Codeberg soon :)

New episode on the unofficial details of #PlayRust on #Linux (#NixOS specifically) and recognizing #Twitch chat #Scams youtu.be/Rrx9UHtNZZw. Note, the #game play footage at the end is 8000% speed so that the videos isn't 7 hours long. This is to show the stability of gameplay. The drawback is that this doesn't show additional scammers in the chat. If there's any interest, they can be reviewed in another episode. :) #cybersecurity #socialengineering #advertising

Great piece on BlueSky and enshittification by @pluralistic. “I will never again devote my energies to building up an audience on a platform whose management can sever my relationship to that audience at will.”

Thank you so much for sharing this! I don't think I've read a better explanation for the need of fediverse than this one. Cleared my thoughts greatly. Thanks again!

I see the fundamental problem being any social media site with an eventual target of 10-100m users is going to require 100m or so in financing to develop all the features necessary to attract and keep a huge number of users, almost all who don’t care about anything except the initial experience.

You don’t attract 100m in highly speculative financing without offering the chance of big returns if the bet happens to pay off.

“… the excerpt tape is a mere fraction of some ‘100 hours of Epstein talking about the inner workings of the Trump White House & about his longstanding, deep relationship w/ Donald Trump.’”

Don’t you wish any of it made a difference to his supporters? It should, but it doesn’t—because Trump voters are as depraved, as degenerate, as immoral as he is. #VoteBlue2024

as awful as this can get, I believe we have to stop othering his supporters. Some may be unreachable, but many must be less "as depraved, as degenerate, as immortal" as their candidate. Labeling them is a judgement that distances.

@earth2marsh
While I want to believe that, Trump showed us that he wasn't really "kidding" about his rhetoric after 2016.

His administration was just incompetent and the separation of powers kept the worst at bay. With the SCOTUS as it is now and almost all "never Trumpers" exiled from the GOP, that isn't nearly as guaranteed this time around.

Trump supporters really ARE garbage people at this point. If you vote Trump after EVERYTHING we know now, you're a fascist.

Kemi Badenoch has been elected leader of the Conservatives by appealing to their very worst instincts.

The politics she represents are no basis for building a fairer society - as we saw over the last 14 years - and Scotland will continue to reject them at the ballot box.

"If you’re following the news, you know that Trump has been working overtime to spread election lies to set the stage to contest the results of the election if he doesn’t win. Experts are warning of the threat of political violence surging in the aftermath of the election. The International Crisis Group has issued a detailed study of risks of violence around the 2024 election."

Please remember, that THIS time he is not the president..
Also, some of his MAGA devotees have realized that he hasn't helped any of the J6 followers who were arrested and are currently in jail.
in reply to Anabana

@anabana Oh, I remember well that he's not president now. I suspect Du Mez does, too. But I think even out of the White House, he's capable of engineering great levels of violence, and it would be naive and irresponsible of us to ignore that possibility and not prepare for it.
