The Israeli army blew up several homes in southern Lebanon on Sunday, in the latest violation of a cease-fire agreement, Lebanese media said.

The structures were detonated in the town of Hanin in Bint Jbeil district.

Lebanese authorities have reported at least 286 Israeli violations, including the death of at least 30 people and the injury of 37 others, since the cease-fire agreement came into force on Nov. 27.

Residents of the town of Baath in the southern Syrian governorate of Quneitra – currently under occupation by Israel’s military – have been ordered by Israeli forces to surrender all weapons present in the town or face invasion.

The army has “issued an ultimatum to residents of Baath to surrender their weapons within two hours, threatening to enter the city,” the report says. It is unclear what weapons or military infrastructure are in Baath.

Israeli occupation forces have established seven permanent military positions along the “disengagement line” in southern Syria, spanning Damascus, Daraa, and Quneitra, reports Al-Mayadeen citing a local source.

Tensions escalated on Friday when Israeli forces fired on protesters in the Quneitra countryside.

The occupation military claimed the protester posed a “threat,” justifying the use of live ammunition under standard operating procedures.

Pope Francis Sunday described the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza as “great cruelty.”

Broadcasting from the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta due to a cold, the Pope delivered his traditional prayer, typically given from the window overlooking St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.

“I think of Gaza with great sorrow; so much cruelty, children hit by machine guns, schools and hospitals bombed... What great cruelty,” he said.

Is Apple skimping on its app review team?

A new Wall Street Journal story detailing two nonprofits’ discovery of hundreds of iOS apps inappropriately rated for kids identifies a possible reason so many apps that seem to clearly defy Apple’s guidelines end up in its App Store anyway:

> [The app review team has] several hundred reviewers who work long hours and struggle to keep up with the large numbers of apps coming in everyday, according to former employees ... Apple expects [them] to move quickly through a certain number of apps a day, making it difficult to spot potential problems, the former employees said.
