Archie's been extra adorable today, he picked up on my tax filing distracted mind and now he's glad to have me back in the real world. Plus it's the nicest day of the year, so far. I'm waiting for the tax headache ibuprofen to kick in before we go wandering again 😵‍💫

I stood at the sink pre-tax, staring out the window, filling an entire large watering can with hot water. Spaced.

I would give Archie anything he wants. ❤️❤️❤️

When I was 30, I had a flat hard stomach and a normal ass.
I weigh about the same now at 59 as i did then.
The problem is, that over the last few years, what ever meat I had on my ass decided to pack up and move just above my belt. Who authorized this and how do I make it move back? I only have a small gut, but I shouldn't have any and i want my butt back, I miss sitting on it.
Perhaps our bodies are determined to go out of the world with the same basic shape it comes into it?
in reply to The Felon Pope

At this point as long as I can keep it all on the top side of the grass I'm happy.

Whose Medicare?

MyMedicare is a scheme that encourages patients to register with a regular GP practice to improve their health but only about 10% of patients have signed up since its launch in October 2023. #Auspol

Focus on the housing crisis

The housing crisis has prompted a series of housing promises from across the political spectrum, but Australia needs ideas that will actually work, rather than marginal handouts. #Auspol

Treating defence like it matters

The National Defence Strategy released in April 2024 warned that Australia’s strategic circumstances were rapidly deteriorating in the face of Russian and Chinese aggression, and the election of Donald Trump underlines the need for Australia to prepare to defend itself. #Auspol

Lessons from China

China is a brutal autocracy intent on international expansion but its success in renewing its internal infrastructure and industrial power offers lessons the West would do well to learn if we are to compete. #China

I would describe this new feature on mastodon.social as being somewhere between "silly" and "bad".

@AnneOfGreenCables @401matthall The team that runs mastodon.social uses mastodon.social as a sort of "staging server" where they test in production the current github top-of-tree. Often, this leads to unusual or incomplete UI.
in reply to mcc

I saw this when I viewed a random mastodon.social user’s profile. The total lack of explanation of what it means is what gets me.

Backsliding into tyranny

The United States is moving dangerously close to authoritarianism as the second Trump administration shows no regard for law, democratic processes or political freedoms. #Trump

ChatGPTariff

The debacle resulting from Donald Trump’s imposition then partial postponement of a tariff trade-way may have been fueled, in part, by a credulous reliance on AI which doesn’t leave anyone in a good light. #Tarrif

Pork barrels and bad eggs

Australians' faith in government has been eroded by a lack of transparency and the perception that those in power are enjoying unfair benefits. The active investigations by robust institutions such as anti-corruption commissions will act as checks and balances on governmental power – and are key to a vibrant democracy. #Auspol

Who shapes education?

Australian opposition Leader Peter Dutton began his election campaign with fresh criticism of Australia’s educational curricula, but who actually decides what is taught in the nation’s schools? #Auspol
