#DIYDay I found another little job to do... and whilst it's an easy job... Getting to the point of actually being able to fit them has been an 8 month pain in the arse.

You know how, when you want to look up a recipe online... and have to wade through a life back story before they even mention the fucking food... Some of my DIY posts are like that. 🤔 😆

So... SUFFER!!!

When we did my mums bedroom and bathroom, she wanted some hooks for her dressing gowns... because like me, she has more than one... a thick winter one and a thin summer one. But she didn't want them on the back of the oak doors for 2 reasons...

1: It's an oak door and you don't drill fucking holes in them for a coat hook.
2: It's a glazed oak door and you don't hang a fucking dressing gown on it to block the extra light it lets into a room with a small side window

So there was a gap between the radiator and the door, that was perfect for them.

So we went looking for something.

It's taken 8 months to find hooks... for several reasons.

1: It's hard to find something with 2 hooks, they're always at least 4 or more and always on some tacky cheap backboard made from MDF.
2: The hooks are always old fashioned, and don't fit with her quite modern tastes.
3: They were, 90% of the time... chrome.

Every time we went near a hardware store... we looked. Every DIY or home furnishing store we passed... we looked.

Every online retailer we could think of.... we looked.

We found... NOTHING!!!

It was all garbage, cheap flimsy shit and one or all of the 3 mentioned issues.

We forgot all about it for weeks.

But now I'm finishing off my bedroom and ensuite... I wanted hooks and I didn't want hooks on oak doors I will be fitting.

So the search began again... only this time... I removed my mum from the equation. She's terrible at making choices when presented with multiple options.

I found these little round ones, each one has a back plate with 3 screws, a matt black cover plate and then the hook itself screws on to the central threaded part.

Simple effective and £12 for a pack of 4.

So I bought them, and when the arrived... showed them to her and told her I'd found her hooks at last. She just looked at them and went, oh... ok, they're nice.

8 Months... 8 FUCKING MONTHS of 'I don't like them'... 'I don't like the back plate'... 'I'd like those if they were black'

I even cut a piece of the engineered oak into a square and fitted some cheap chrome hooks to it... and she hated it.... but to be fair, so did I... it looked tacky... better than the shit in most shops... but still tacky.

These are simple, clean and modern.

1st pic is my mums room and the spot for the hooks is to the left of the black radiator in the left side of the picture.

The rest of the pics are my bedroom, as I bought 2 for myself and put them up in the corner next to my radiator... and hung my black dressing gown up.

But a reminder... 8 damn months... and as soon as I removed her from the decision making. Solved in a few days. 🤔 🤦 😂
