They're putting blue food coloring in everything
"Why is my burger blue?" I asked, innocently. "Oh! We're making all of our food blue, all the best restaurants are doing it now." the waiter explained. But I didn't want my burger to be blue.Luna Winters (Luna's Blog)

Anthropic’s cofounder has shared provocative predictions
1. Smarter than human AI (AGI) will arrive in 2-3 years.
2. AGI will lead to 20% unemployment rates.
3. AGI will lead to abundance as AI can solve all of humanity’s problems.
4. The big risk is we can’t control an AI smarter than us and it turns out to be evil.
Seems to miss the obvious risk of evil governments or corporations using the AGI in ways that harm people. Arguably we’re already there today with Gen AI.

Jeffrey Epstein presents elements of a classic conspiracy
Combining an ancient trope with modern cynicism, the sex-trafficking scandal has ingredients that keep it fresh long after other conspiracies faded. President Trump used it for political gain.Mark Z. Barabak (Los Angeles Times)

The word 'ye' in names such as Ye Olde Inn ('the old inn') was originally simply pronounced 'the'.
The pronunciation with y is due to a misinterpretation of the first letter.
'Ye' originated as a second-best way of writing 'þe'. The first letter, þ, was called thorn. It was a letter for the th sound that originated in Old English.
Where did þ come from? How did it disappear? And why was it substituted by y in the word 'ye'?

/3 I have no issues with training after a meal beyond preferring to wait at least half-an-hour.
Oh, I also take various vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in pill or softgel form.
I also take naps! Not every single day, but probably more days with naps than without in a week. And I try to get plenty of sleep. I have a lifetime of insomnia and bad sleep habits behind me. I still stay up too late. But I try to sleep until I'm well rested.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), led by Mehmet Oz, announced the move on Thursday, saying that it has informed states of a “clear shift away from policies that extend beyond statutory limits,”
specifically restricting Section 1115 waivers that have been sought and approved in dozens of statesacross the U.S.
“CMS will allow currently approved initiatives to run out their course but does not anticipate extending them nor approving new waivers,”
the agency said in a statement, which came less than two weeks after Donald Trump signed into law the largest Medicaid cuts in U.S. history.

in reply to Dare Obasanjo • • •"AGI can solve all of humanity's problems" is based on the assumption that intelligence is the limiting factor in human development. But that's clearly untrue.
For example -- we've known how to solve climate change for decades now. It's not a lack of intelligence that prevents solutions -- it's entrenched interests and captured political systems. How will AGI solve that?
All systems have bottlenecks, the limiting factor that constrains growth. So when "intelligence" is no longer the bottleneck, the important question is what will be the limiting constraint instead. That's where to focus.

I remember discussing uncontrollable evil AI couple years before in an EA group. I think it's basically a distraction from actual problems. Also these predictions are basically nonsense because you can't even accurately estimate software delivery times let alone predict when a research breakthrough will happen.
