Copernicus Climate Bulletin

September 2024 was 1.54°C above the pre-industrial level globally, the second highest ever recorded (2023 was the highest). Note the graph shows year to date running average not individual months' records, which is a bit confusing.

September kept 2024 on track to be the warmest year on record, with the global average temperature anomaly for January-September 2024 0.71°C above the 1991-2020 average, which is 0.19°C warmer than the same period in 2023.

Better Banking

Better Banking is the next step in this year long alphabetical programme to become a more ethical citizen. The bank rundown is UK focused, but I know the main point.

Here in Canada, a few years ago the Canada Broadcasting Corp. did an expose of how banks pressure and bully employees to upsell and mislead customers. That alone should have been enough for everyone to quit dealing with them. They're all bad; and they all fund fossil fuels this being Canada, so there's little to choose. The answer is to go to credit unions.

I have opened an account with a federated (accredited nation-wide, this is a new thing) credit union with online banking, which suits my needs. Still have my old account as Canada doesn't seem to have such a neat way of switching over as described in the post. I'll gradually phase it out as I test out the new one to make sure I can do everything I need to. #ethicalconsumer

And what do they think when an even more genocidal and racist candidate beats the "lesser evil"?
in reply to LPS

Would you mind 'spelling it out', @**joe braun? Who are you referring to by 'they'? And who, praytell, is 'more' genocidal and racist; not in theory or speculation or Saturday-B-Movie-Drive-in scripting horror-fantasy, but in reality?

@mb Hey, I saw you mentioned Reeder Classic allowing you to add YouTube channels as an RSS feed and thought I'd share a quick tidbit. YouTube channels actually have an RSS feed built in, and if you go to the channel's page and choose "view source" you can search for "xml" and the last time xml shows up should be in an RSS feed link you can add to any feed reader.

Good info, thanks! I was a bit surprised when I read it was possible. I’ve already added 8 Channels, and it’s so nice to watch without all the YouTube stuff always in your face.
