Does anyone else *despise* the new Bitwarden or is it just me?

I don't like harping on products but I am having such a hard time with the new UI. Everything feels unintuitive.

(This is not a technical support request)

big agree, they messed with my muscle memory for no real reason :(
in reply to Veronica Explains

I feel like everything with the new Bitwarden takes twice as many clicks. I'd do a compare but I don't have any devices with the old Bitwarden in order to do so.

I wish they'd offer a "legacy extension".

in reply to Veronica Explains

yes, especially when I want something like card info or identity, it was easily accessible before, but now it's just few more clicks in an annoying way
in reply to Veronica Explains

Yeah I’m not loving the change either. Hasn’t been a huge deal for me, but having to click more is annoying. And the full button being a much smaller target now was certainly an adjustment. I think maybe clarity is improved in terms of what does what though? Debatable?
in reply to Veronica Explains

Takes more than twice as many clicks, because I always click on the site name to fill from muscle memory and then I have to figure out what just happened, and then hit back and then hit "Fill".

o do not mind since last year when i migrate my workflow for #keepassxc and #syncthing

The bottonneck of this is, if work only in my trusted devices, and sometimes a issue in sync

Funny you should mention Bitwarden as I was shaking my head at a needless change in the new version.

On my Mac, I open Safari, which goes to its default Start Page. Next, I unlock Bitwarden through its extension. Since there’s no actual URL on the Start Page, BW is unavailable until I visit an actual site. This is a change from the previous version, where I can unlock my Vault and use it from the Start Page. Why make this change?

in reply to Veronica Explains

I initially didn't like it, but then I discovered the setting AutofillClick items to autofill on Vault view and now I like it possibly even more than before...
in reply to Veronica Explains

I don't mind the new design, but I resent them for making me click one extra time whenever I want to copy a username or a password.

I decided to try moving away from Bitwarden and am trying KeePassXC.

I've exported passwords from Bitwarden, Chrome, FireFox, and Vivaldi and imported into KeePassXC.

The interface for grouping, listing, tagging, and search is just what I need to finally clean up the mess.

I have yet to do browser integration so can't comment on that, but the fact that I can clean up decades of accumulated passwords is great for my brain which craves organization but hates tedium.

I noticed no difference in day to day use 🤔 it's still working exactly the same for me, but prettier now
in reply to Veronica Explains

It is definitely the muscle memory thing for me. It is hard to let go of it sometimes, I still want to hit SHFT+F7, then 1 to print a document.
in reply to Veronica Explains

genuinely curious, what differences are you (or others) noticing? I see lots of rounded corners in the UI but my workflow isn't any different (although I only use the desktop and mobile apps, so if they made the extension worse, I wouldn't have noticed)

I don't understand either. I use #vaultwarden web UI on desktop, and the official android #bitwarden client on mobile. Can't say anything's drasticly changed fer me.

Did they hide how to get to the secure notes or an I just being a tool? I got there in the end but it seemed more buried than usual
in reply to Veronica Explains

For whatever reason, I thought I was suffering through this alone. Thanks for putting this out there.
in reply to Veronica Explains

yeah I'm not digging it at all but definitely wondering if it's more that my muscle memory is messing me up than that it's actually better or worse taken as its own thing.
in reply to Veronica Explains

Absolutely yes. They’ve broken my muscle memory, but also moved the function of filling a form (which I do many times) from just clicking on the appropriate row in the browser extension, to having to be precise with the pointer to click a small button.

Now if (when) I click the row out of habit, I get taken to the edit page, aka something I do a very small percentage of the time.

Very much feels like change for change's sake, aka somebody justifying their wage.

in reply to Veronica Explains

It's definitely a step back in so many ways, changing the default of clicking an entry to edit instead of fill is the dumbest thing ever. Certainly ignores the "principle of least surprise".
in reply to Veronica Explains

It definitely feels more "padded"? I think I've avoided interacting with it, since I usually use it from the right-click menu.

I'm weird.

in reply to Veronica Explains

Absolutely hate it. I feel like it's probably a change for the better but I'll misclick an entry 3 times trying to figure out how to fill or edit it or just copy a TOTP

@aaronhall

So much better. Thank you so much for this tip. Immediately helps me use the extension more.
