I may be leaving Hubzilla

I'm seriously thinking about swapping #Hubzilla for #Mastodon or #Streams.

After more than 4 years, I'm tired of the cluttered interface. Earlier this week I found myself using my Mastodon account to find a post, so that I could load it into Hubzilla to reply. That's not how things should be.

This would mean, however, that I'd lose all my contacts on #Diaspora* and that was the most important reason to pick Hubzilla, back in 2019...

Life is all about priorities...

@Tokyo Outsider (337ppm) Misskey uses ActivityPub, so that should do about the same as Mastodon and/or Streams. Diaspora* uses its own protocol, and afaik only Diaspora* and Hubzilla can speak that protocol.

I haven't tried either Streams or Misskey myself yet, btw. Good point, I should do a round of evaluating different products again, like I did in 2019.

I don't know how deeply you're connected with the Hubzilla scene. But @Scott M. Stolz, now also President of the recently founded Hubzilla Association, is currently developing several upgraded or entirely new UIs for Hubzilla. I think general-purpose channels will be covered, too.

I'm pretty sure the new UIs will come out this year, so we won't be stuck with that UI from 2012 any longer.

Oh, and there's also a blog-style UI in the making.

Since they're all third-party, and they most likely will stay third-party, it won't be up to @Mario Vavti to maintain them once they're released.
