I’m trying to move away from #google.

What are your easy to use(!) favorites alternatives?

Currently I’m trying to do it like this:

#chrome -> #firefox (easy one)

Maps -> #openStreatMap (I’m trying this, maps was the most used, service for me … switch will be hard)

#gmail -> ??? (I‘m completely open, I don’t want to set up my own hosting, I’m eying mailbox.org)

fotos -> iCloud (I know it’s Apple, but obviously the poison I take for now)

#drive -> ???

Any suggestions for anything?
Thx!

@Marcel_Gehlen@tchncs.de Maps is hard. There are OSM-based apps like @organicmaps but you won't be able to see your favourite restaurant reviews or advanced public transport navigation. It's a struggle.

About Gmail, I asked a similar question a while back, and @mailbox emerged as the winner social.juanlu.space/@astrojuan… The web client is crap but you always have @thunderbird. I wish there was something closer to Hey dot com UX.

Drive - Pick a @nextcloud provider, for example @murena or github.com/nextcloud/providers…

it’s only a question of time and donations/funding when you can enjoy public transport and user photos/reviews in Organic Maps.

@organicmaps @thunderbird @nextcloud @murena I'm a happy Organic Maps user :) but in September 2023 is not a full replacement. Just wanted to set clear expectations.

Are there issues I can subscribe to on GitHub about these two topics?

@astrojuanlu @thunderbird @nextcloud @murena Of course. Even better if you could suggest something about the design, architecture, implementation, or maybe help us to find lead developers ;-)
