What would you do?
If you could live in a world
where you didn't have to work.
What would you do?
Like in Star Trek, for example, where no one has to work because all goods are “replicated.”
Please share, lots of opinions would be great.
Thanks 🙏 ❤️
Comments are also very welcome, a discussion would be great.

Yes, that's how I see it too.
I wouldn't be working 200+ hours like I do now, and I would be able to write much more.

I chose "Don't Work" for the same reasons. :D
The survey should have said "Play" :D

OH play is also a good idea.
Hmm, maybe I can think of another survey where I can have play as an option... hmm, let's see.

Yes, and that's exactly what's so incredibly good about Star Trek, but also so damn important for the whole situation in the world.
It's utopian, but it's a great dream for the future.

Work isn't unpleasant. Being robbed (stolen from under coercion) is unpleasant.

I think we need to define work.
Block me now, I'm about to ramble LOL
The boss who sits at the desk all day while worker bees fill the truck, is he working? Not if you ask the manual laborers. So, this could be subjective.
Work, for financial gain, would not be necessary but those trees I grow won't plant themselves.. I'll be digging the holes. If I didn't have to, I'd still want to.
It would also make us lazy, anything we wanted to do but nothing we had to do
And someone has to tear apart the clock radio so someone else can learn to fix it
si_irini
in reply to Rasta • • •@Rasta
Great answer, Rasta.
Thanks.
I won't block you 😂 , I like your answer.
I also think that work would have to be redefined.
I think it would be a recurring, repetitive occupation, but without the bitter taste of servitude...

write software I enjoy rather than software that is useful for some company
contribute to Debian and/or other Free Software projects
and then all of the other crafts I already do in my free time (including documenting what I do and publishing it under free licenses)
Quincy ⁂
in reply to si_irini • • •Very good question.
Of course I would!
What I would run away from in a jiffy, and what I strongly feel is superfluous and holding us down even now, is not work, but *meaningless* work and subservience.

I'm still going to be teaching. :)
If there was no "work" at all, I'd write bad poetry and grow plants and yap with my friends. Maybe cool and eat delicious food. The things I do *after* work.

Hey, a book club too, I really like that.
I hope I finish writing my book and then I'll shamelessly suggest that you include it 🙈

Not in the way we define work today, no.
We define work in terms of remuneration, and that would no longer exist.
But if we see work as a recurring activity with a rhythm, then that changes.
But this is precisely the question many people ask themselves, and that's normal. It makes you think about what exactly you think work is or should be.
