I cannot overstate how convenient Apple Pay is. I didn’t have a single CHF on me the whole trip. I didn’t even need to carry my wallet around.

@Eugen I remember using NFC on my Samsung back in 2016 or so and everyone looked weird at me here in Spain, paying with it. Still use it since. Now many are using it. One time they called for their employees to see me pay with the phone and were amazed hahaha.

I mean yah is convenient that you do not have to carry a card, but it is annoying the level of fuckery that goes behind these paying methods with their "apps" that give you rewards, track your purchases, and more. Maybe Apple does not do it yet, but will.

Lewis Dexter Litanzios reshared this.

Though you aren't getting the best exchange rate when paying with a card with different currency.

Don't your own bank offer NFC payments without Apple/others looking up your payments?
in reply to Eugen Rochko

that's a shame because the 5 CHF is an a-tier coin. a real dubloon

Yup often out running with just my apple watch, and buy some thing drink on my way back using apple pay.

It's never a good thing to rely on a single method of payment. Cash should always be carried as a backup, whether because you lost your digital wallet, or because a corrupt government declines your payments.

Eugen: "hey apple pay is pretty cool and easy"

Tech Bros: "How dare you use Apple pay you should be using gold coins you mint yourself using nuggets you mine from the ground in an undisclosed location"
