Wanting to encourage readers to follow me through RSS, what can I suggest? RSS aren't stand-alone in browsers any longer - I have a chrome extension but it relies on newsblur, feedly and co; thunderbird has a reader, but then? In their shoes I'd never create yet another account to read a blog! Let alone give away my e-mail. Suggestions? @FediTips - #fediverse #rss #FollowerPower #AskFedi

You don't need an account to read RSS? Usually you just need an app like Thunderbird and the RSS links you want to follow.

You know on Friendica, a Mastodon alternative, you can follow any RSS source just like you follow anyone on the fediverse. I use it a lot. Other than that there are a ton of free RSS readers out there see - directory.trade-free.org/?s=rs…

As The World Turns reshared this.

@tio Yes, with Friendica I gladly follow RSS - a trick that @informapirata shared with me. But I'm fedi-friendly, alternatives-friendly, I gladly accept when someone gives me a software suggestion then I can always take a step back if it does not fit me. But my current readers are mostly folks using commercial platforms and I would love to encourage them taking a step towards me.

@tio When you wrote that post, there were no simple guides to Friendica. In fact, let's face it: understanding what Friendica was was an impossible task.
That post was very important to me!

I am very happy to hear that my article was informative. I'll make videos about such things in the future ;)
