Taking the ultimate sobriety step- living and writing in the vast, inspiring, raw amphitheater of Arctic Alaska, where auroras writhe like fever dreams and glaciers lock time in their teeth, I have found sobriety’s true north. Here, survival and recovery speak the same language—one of absolute truths. The land does not bargain. Neither does sobriety. The locals say that winter separates the dreamers from the doers.Sobriety carves the same line, only deeper, into the frozen tundra of the self. Here, where caribou trails weave ancient wisdom and the northern lights pulse like the sky shedding its last delirium, I'm learning that recovery, like an Arctic spring, arrives not in surrender but in slow, unstoppable transformation. And so I write from this edge of the habitable world, in this vast arena of ice and revelation, where the land of the midnight sun and polar night teach me the art of emerging whole.
