The Metropolitan Museum of Art are thrilled to unveil the design for the Oscar L. and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing at The Met! Designed by Mexican architect Frida Escobedo, the wing will provide a new world-class home for their extraordinary collection of 20th and 21st-century art. Sea Aster flowers are usually purple, but variations are occasionally seen. This white form was spotted on a saltmarsh in Dornoch this summer, the purple one was growing nearby.

The Royal Ontario Museum ( #ROM ) has vigorous security procedures in place, and there has been no evidence to indicate that any objects are missing as a result of misconduct or wrongdoing, the Canadian museum told the Global Times on Sunday in response to a report that 2,234 items in its collection, including 136 oracle bones from China, are unaccounted for

Cultural values have changed a lot since ancient Greece.

If you spend enough time with classical statuary, you may begin to ask yourself some questions that seem more appropriate to middle school health class than an art history discussion. Namely: Is it just me, or are all these dudes kind of … small?

Not certain about Ancient Greece but Rome had seasonal fertility festivals where they paraded enormous (wooden) phalluses through the streets so I think the context mattered a lot when depicting size.

Also, kind of an aside since it's a different culture, but there is a similar festival in Japan called Kanamara Matsuri which is still celebrated.

In a forest in southern Småland, in southern Sweden, there is a small earthen cabin partially buried in the ground with its sod roof almost flush with the ground level, which renders the cabin nearly invisible. The medieval Ingush towers, known as "Vepshi", were built by the Ingush people, an indigenous ethnic group in North Caucasus region, between the 13th and 17th Centuries AD. These towers are located in the mountainous regions of what is now Ingushetia, Russia.
