I guess Pavlov could be added, even though a bit more of a stretch

@xfranky
Pavlov's Gun:
A gun presented in the first act of a play will start to smoke in anticipation of being fired by the third.

Pavlov's Cat:
A cat in a box cannot be determined to be alive or dead, until it hears its food being prepared.

Pavlov's Razor:
The most mouthwatering explanation is probably correct.

Pavlov's Law:
If you can drool on your nice shirt, you will drool on your nice shirt.

Streisand has some too:

@falcennial The Streisand Effect:
the attempt to silence or censor information will lead to greater public awareness of that information

Streisand’s Gun:
The time to put the silencer on the gun is before firing, not after

Streisand’s Cat:
If you throw your noisy cat out of the house, it will caterwaul all night outside your window

Streisand’s Razor:
The best singers in the world do not get nose jobs

Streisand’s Law:
Any unpleasant rumor than can be spread, will be spread

With tight, concise lines and grounded imagery that leads you by the hand into its dark and hungry heart, Yearnings by Stephanie Harper is a book for those who feel deeply, love wholly, and see the world in signs, in poems.

The more I roll it around in my mouth, the more certain I am that the "AI" mania *perfectly* encapsulates neoliberalism in its entirety.

- doesn't work and never has
- steals everything around it
- produces nothing of value
- destroys all things with actual value
- lies
- creates the illusion of efficiency while vastly increasing both monetary and social costs
- is supported by militant zealots with tiny minds and hearts
- enriches a tiny group of individuals at the cost of destroying Earth

in reply to John

On top of that:

- viciously punishes people who refuse to pretend they're eager to participate
- creates incredible suffering wherever it goes
- cannot exist without exploiting the global South
- is subsidized by governments at the expense of social programs
- makes up most of the "data" it presents to the public

"I'm proposing that AI is itself a glitch; a stuttering misstep of the neoliberal order that hints at nothing less than internal disarray."

If they where for DEI they would take that as proof God likes it too!

The battery on my new Lenovo M11 tablet was draining fast and it didn't make any sense because the tablet and battery is brand new. It's supposed to last all day. Turns out it was the Facebook app running in the background nonstop spying on everything I'm doing on the tablet and using all the battery power. Deleted the app. Problem is fixed.

This Thursday, July 17th, get out there and make yourself heard!

Here's a quote from a recent SCOTUS majority opinion...

"SB1 does not exclude any individual
from medical treatments on the basis of transgender status
but rather removes one set of diagnoses—gender dysphoria,
gender identity disorder, and gender incongruence—from
the range of treatable conditions."

So, the law doesn't prevent treating trans kids, it just prevents treating people under 18 who don't identify with the sex assigned at birth. Nothing against trans kids at all!

How could they write that with a straight face?

I have started a new podcast with a friend in which we examine and pick apart strange movies. The first episode, on "We’re All Going to the World’s Fair," is out, along with a trailer and teaser. You'll get a short bonus episode on "Class of 1984" tomorrow, and a full one on "I Saw the TV Glow" (probably my favorite movie of the past five years) next week.

in reply to auzzy

In part because the barrier of the computer screen means I have no way of knowing if how you're presenting yourself is the least bit accurate. Which I think is driven home by the way we experience Casey: starting with her first Skype call with JLB, we only experience her life through a computer screen. Primairly as JLB watches her videos, but also the second Skype call, and what he says about when they (allegedly) met up in person.
in reply to auzzy

@auzzy That's an interpretation of JLB that I had not thought of! We'll definitely talk about this in the next liminal.
