A Tree With My Name on It: Finding a Way Home by Victress Hitchcock is a story filled with joy and sorrow, unexpected wisdom, and humor that will resonate with anyone who has reached that moment in their lives when they are ready to tear off the bandage, and take a deep look at the old wounds, assumptions and fears that have held them hostage for too long. " A beautiful, touching book!"

Greedy sociopaths in power only stop when *consequences are applied*. These consequences can be criminal or even financial (if the cost is high enough), since either hits something the empty skinsuits care about.

Appealing to their (nonexistent) empathy or shame doesn’t work. Ever.

in reply to Lili Saintcrow

Legal rulings are not in and of themselves “consequences”. For a legal ruling to dissuade a greedy, powerful sociopath, the ruling must be timely, the penalty significant and (here’s the important bit) *actually applied*.
in reply to Lili Saintcrow

Anyway, the mad orange king, his criminal cabal, and their racist goons will only stop when actual meaningful (to them) consequences are actually applied.

Strongly worded letters and empty rulings are not consequences.

in reply to Lili Saintcrow

He's realised that just ignoring the courts works because there's no enforcement mechanism (in part because the Constitution didn't believe someone so dictatory* would become President.

(* Is that a word?)

in reply to AlisonW ♿🏳️‍🌈♾️

@AlisonW I don’t think it’s even a problem “of the Constitution” per se. I think he’s just gotten away with everything all his life because he’s a rich white man who occasionally violently escalates in private, and our entire culture and society is set up to prioritise and reward such creatures, Constitution or no.
in reply to Lili Saintcrow

also if the penalty is financial but less than the profits it is merely a cost of doing business.
