Without going into specifics, we're speculating some measurable hull damage we're not reading in the news, and besides the Bharain situation, there send to be done additional logistics issues.
Now, mind. I'm a civilian who hasn't been on deck in ages. I could definitely be misreading things and thus, completely wrong.

We have est. 40,000 troops deployed under CENTCOM, that doesn't count the troops deployed for Trump's Folly, which iirc is another 50,000. There are reinforced THAAD and other batteries deployed around the region. We have bases all over, including the areas in Lebanon where Israel has been concentrating fire.
Point being, a lot more military personnel are in the line of fire in the Middle East than people realize. And with friends like ours...

Also seems to me that if Kegseth actually understood logistics those sailors could eat and have clean heads (toilets at sea). Way back in 1963 a C-130 Hercules transport successfully landed on a carrier. This was a feasability study, and the plane landed well within a safe sink rate etc. Thus if it had to be done, at least food and plumbing supplies could presumably be flown to the ship from Europe.
They've had months to think of this, but I guess ballrooms are more important, and they figure God will deliver victory to their Crusade.

As one can imagine, Sir has opinions about many things, but as far as I can tell from his cohort, retired Naval officers are beside themselves with anger about how bad this command has been handled.
I was at the range, talking to some old special forces, and everyone of them had a list of ways this problem could be solved, although almost none of them included keelhauling Hegseth…even when I suggested it it repeatedly.
We can absolutely land supplies on that ship. We could do crew rotation. It wouldn’t be fast, but it can be done. That they are doing nothing only proves that the kids in the boat can’t get to the command structure, because this is the behavior that causes mutiny. And justifiably so.

Iirc; offensive battle plans for Iran were never even seriously wargamed. Because the idea is insane. It was taken off the table by intelligence and strategists 40 years ago. There is a reason the west sanctioned them instead of attacking them. Land wars in Asia will fail, and we cannot take them by air without war crimes. They have some of the most defensible occupied territory on the planet.
And they may not be able to hit the continental US (or maybe they can, opinions differ), but they sure as hell can hit our allies. We don't defend anyone else like we defend Israel, and a lot of Gulf countries are realizing that they are going to be collateral damage either way. Either Iran hits them to strike at the US, or they have to pay to play with Trump. And the price never goes down.
We have destroyed America's standing, respect, diplomacy, and intelligence because pedophiles didn't want to face consequences.

So, Jared Kushner, as far back as 2018, had been working with Israel to convince Saudi to run a pipeline from the oil fields to the Gaza port. (And also to open drilling in the Sea.) In return, Saudi would offer land somewhere in the desert for the remaining Palestinians, or they could stay and be enslaved in the New Dubai. Palestine would be absorbed completely by Israel, but Palestinians wouldn't become Israelis and would need Saudi sponsorship to be there.
Gulf states were not into this idea at all. They may not do anything to help the Palestinians, but they don't want the blood on *their* hands. (I have opinions.)
However, the longer Trump can keep the Hormuz locked up, the more leverage Kushner and the Trump Mafia have to get pipelines rolling.

Every random flavor of bomb and missile was unpacked, prepped, and was in a bomb cart lining the passageways around the mess decks / bomb assembly areas. And there were some *weird* things lying out that no one recognized. I wrote down the NSN part numbers and looked them up on the microfiche.
Two I remember vividly:
- AIM-9 sidewinder launch rails for A-6 Intruder medium bombers. That was not a typical store carried by the A-6.
- AWG-9 jammer pods. Yes, a pod that would jam the radar of an F-14.
Why would we want to jam our own fleet defense fighter? Because Iran also had F-14s, and we didn't know WTF was going to happen when we started bombing Saddam. So just to be safe, someone prepped the super-secret jammers.
My point is someone, in the 80s, decided that we might get into a shooting war with Iran some day so had specced and built some number of jammers for that unlikely contingency.
I miss having a military that worried about contingencies.

That being so, the cheapest option might be to accept the planes and simply park them until new non US controlled computers can be developed to run them. No modern fighter can be controlled without computer assist. Since this will take time, the RCAF will then need to put up money a second time to buy planes that can be used in defense against the US. Supposedly this is cheaper than cancelling the F-35s and spending that money on the alternate planes due to breach of contract fines. There would be the option to refuse to pay those too, but that might mean shitcanning trade worth far more than the entire RCAF fleet.

In theory one carrier with two crews could stay out until it needed drydock servicing. Some way to dispose of the sewage would be needed.
The fact that Trump treats the miitary like shit of course is going to bite him on the ass the first time he gets the choice between a successful military coup and being dragged out of the White House by US marshalls and sent to prison. Most likely date for that is Jan 20 2029 but others are possible.

Not enough capacity to ferry bombs unless 5 2000 pounders or equivalent is the ONLY load, but should be fine for food and plumbing supplies. This is assuming the just retired planes are still airworthy (engines not time-expired etc). Can you imagine how pissed that crew would be if more ammunition (implying staying out longer) was delivered but not food and maintainance supplies?

There is even bigger potential to this: Germany's 1918 revolution that threw down the Kaiser was born on the battleships. They had been kept in port rusting away-with crews still onboard on REDUCED RATIONS. Then in 1918 the Kaiser wanted to send them out for a suicidal battle with the British fleet for no more reason than to improve Germany's position in an already lost war. The sailors refused, and engine room crews hosed down the coals in the boilers to prevent the ships from steaming.
Two ships surrendered after a standoff with one loyalist U-boat, but it was too late for that. The revolt spread from ship to ship, then to the shore and the cities. When it was over the Kaiser had been forced to abdicate and Germany became (temporarily) a democracy.

The Lincoln was deployed on Nov. 21, 2025, from San Diego and has been in the Middle East since January. They are at 259 days at sea, as of 08/19/26. That's the longest single deployment in american naval history, according to the news talkers.
That's a long ass time to be at sea. Even on the best imagined cruise ship, that would be a long ass time to be a sea without being able to get off the boat.
