The followup single to “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” one of my jams during my freshman year in high school (78-79) and this morning’s ear worm as I putter around the place.

Armstrong - HandiCrafts

"Too lo-fi and steeped in emotional immediacy to be sophisti-pop and yet too 'considered' to disregard such inferences, Armstrong's song writing and ability to resonate each note means this Handicrafts double CD/album he regularly flirts with pop perfection."

All this sunshine on deck at the moment is kinda nice. I reckon that’s how an ear worm can happen.

Back from Minnesota for a little deck time and some Dylan, one of the tunes he caught a little hell for from die-hard fans because it was electrified. I always liked it, though, ‘cause it brilliantly tells someone to go pound sand.

You see me on the street
You always act surprised
You say "How are you?” “Good luck!” But ya don't mean it
When you know as well as me
You’d rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once and scream it?

And now for something completely different from on deck this evening: this isn’t the tune Boyce and Hart performed on their appearances on “I Dream Of Jeannie” and “Bewitched” back in the day but I’ve always liked the song (and others they wrote for The Monkees) and I sure had a boyhood crush type thing on Elizabeth Montgomery.

Because a friend will always be there
If you're wrong or if you're right
And now I wonder what she's doing tonight

Wilson Pickett picked up the beat and had a Top 40 hit in 1967 with this Solomon Burke tune (that’s way too short, IMHO) and the Blues Brothers had that classic rendition in 1980 at the Palace Ballroom but it was SB who first laid it out there in 1964.

A pleasant Saturday evening from a different deck in Minnesota; something upbeat from Mr. Diamond.

Look like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same, yes
Sittin' here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's two thousand miles I roamed
Just to make this dock my home
