Surprise, surprise, the Star's angle is that Conservatives are bad, rather than asking what is the right way to convince Albertans who might vote "yes" to choose "no". Would it really benefit the "no" side to say that the referendum is nonsense based on conspiracy theories, or to pick a fight with Premier Smith?
About six months ago, a friend of mine in Vancouver told me she could no longer be my friend because of my "support of Israel". I'd never once discussed any actions of the Israeli government to her, but I had told her that I was in Israel visiting my father-in-law, who was now bedridden after a stroke.
One might think that this is a one-off situation, but it's not here in Canada, where every single one of my Canadian-born friends I've made since I moved here have told me something similar.
And now we see this same attitude play out on a national level, where a politician has issued an apology for meeting with an ambassador.
This is not the same position that anyone takes about any other nation. Going to China does not make one supportive of all actions of the Chinese government.
This isn't about Israel or its actions. If it were, we'd see a proportional response as we do with other countries.

The evidence for the bottom in the housing market is that prices have stopped falling; but really to get a feel for the market, we should have an index based on inflation-adjusted prices over the last thirty years, not just the change in prices.
I hope this is a blip, and that housing prices will drop more.

You don't need to imagine any brilliant strategy here, this is just Ottawa working as it's supposed to: providing a path to building big things, while (mostly) avoiding putting taxpayer money into iffy investments.
(By contrast, the previous Trans Mountain Expansion project saw legal hurdles derail the initial proponent, then the feds taking over construction, the former upsetting those who favoured the project, and the latter upsetting those who opposed it.)

His answer showed no understanding with no timeline even for a reply.
Personally I would have asked the question in a way to make them squirm more for not having an answer, such as asking why the official communication channel being used is a US billionaire controlled CSAM factory rather than a platform the Canadian government can host and control themselves.
That said, full respect for raising the question in the first place.
Ironic given that from what I've heard, Carney's party was essentially on track to get wiped out in the elections until Trump's 51'st state comments got Canadians riled up and got him elected.
So, Trump essentially got Carney elected and this it's the reaping of the seed he sowed.
