I’ve started studying French in addition to Spanish.
It’s interesting to see how many English, French, and Spanish words are the same or similar, albeit sometimes with wildly different pronunciations.
If only we could show people from past generations who spoke the Indo-European languages these three evolved from how things have changed. They might be fascinated.
I'm aware that totopos and tortilla chips aren't necessarily the same thing, but it seems very weird to me that we don't use the word "totopos" for what we usually call "tortilla chips" in English. You'll get bags of chips that say "tortilla chips" and also "totopos" on them, so it can't be that wrong to call them that. We use the Spanish names for tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, etc. so why not "totopos"?
