Tesla's 'Robotaxi' expansion looks like another stock pump before earnings | Electrek electrek.co/2026/04/19/tesla-r…

We have now seen this pattern three times: Tesla makes a splashy autonomous driving announcement days before an earnings call, generates positive headlines, and the actual operational reality turns out to be a fraction of what was implied.

Finally someone calling it out. It's always about looking good in front of investors

LOL apparently I caused a Tesla owner some stress trying to learn about how to release the rear door handle and they're going off on people in that thread... Sorry, folks. (I was honestly trying to figure it out for a friend here who was in the back of an Uber and just wanted to know). (blocked them so they don't need to ever see my posts again).

ANYWAY, apparently the newer Tesla 3/Y have a cable thing in the back of the door which you may or may not be able to get to. Unclear to me when this became a feature. Also, it's apparently completely different depending on model. I guess if I ever get one of these calling an Uber I'll have to ask the driver what model and where the emergency switch is, or just decline the ride and walk, lol.

Anyway, if there's some *better* emergency egress instructions for a Model 3, was looking this up for someone who was Ubering in a Tesla wondering about that. (someone mentioned "this is for service only" and I am unable to Google-fu any Model 3 instructions which do not involve removing a bolt) #tesla

First step on getting out of a Model 3 with no 12V power if you are in the rear seat, ie, if you are in an accident and the car is on fire and the door latches aren't working.

EDIT: Apparently this doc is only for service and maintenance, there is a different one for if you are trapped in a Tesla. WHY DO THEY HAVE TWO DIFFERENT WAYS TO DO THIS?!?!?!

OLD POST: Per Tesla: (apparently just for servicing)

"...Remove the bolt that attaches the access panel to the underside of the armrest...."

The #Tesla #Cybertruck is a flop.

The Cybertruck sold a total of around 55,000 units so far, with many of the latter sales propped up by SpaceX buying a bunch, because retail purchases have collapsed.

In contrast, the Ford Edsel, the poster boy for automotive¹ flops, sold 116,000 units between 1957 and 1959; that is, the Edsel sold twice as many units as the Cybertruck.

It’s even funnier when we realize that the US population in 1957 was *half* what it is today. So on a per-capita basis, the Cybertruck sold only a QUARTER as well as the Edsel.

¹ To be clear, we are comparing mass-market consumer cars, not limited-edition bespoke units for rich buyers.

not an auto journalist, a lot of inaccuracies. Yes there are design problems but #tesla vehicles made it through regulatory approval all over the world just fine.

China has banned electric locks going forward, could be done everywhere.

EVs do not catch fire more than combustion vehicles. Yes, it takes a lot of water to put an #ev fire out because water is the wrong thing to put electrical fires out with!

Elon Musk wanted the Cybertruck to be his dream vehicle. Now people are burning alive inside them.

On #TechWontSaveUs, I spoke to Dara Kerr to explore the safety disaster that the vehicles have become and why regulators aren’t acting faster.

If you're going to sieg heil a #Tesla owner, make sure to flip them off. You don't want them thinking you're a fan. 🖕 😅

If it's a #Cybertruck, pointing and laughing is probably sufficient.

@PlukkiePanda interessante documentaire #tesla . Nu ben ik benieuwd of onze nl verzekeraars zullen uitkeren bij een ongeval als de bestuurder ( bewezen) zijn aandacht ' een paar seconden' niet bij het verkeer had .
