Regarding command lines on Windows, Cygwin made windows bearable for the years I was forced to use it at work. I know WSL2 gets all the glory nowadays, but #Cygwin was a neat solution, a little bit like inverse-Wine. There was a hefty fork() penalty, so your shell scripts had to be efficient, but it worked well and was deeply integrated with the native (excuse for an) OS. ;)

I still use it to this day on the one Windows machine I manage, basically just to do scp, rsync, and a couple old shell scripts.

Regarding chording, I assume you mean plan9-style mouse chording? I don't really have any opinions on that, as I'm still so new to it. 😄

I keep thinking back to Engelbart's "Mother of all Demos" and the neat chording setup he had, although that was more for keyboard input, I think.
