#Climate ‘feedback loops’ could worsen #globalwarming
Rising temps caused by burning #fossilfuels are transforming world’s forests, wetlands and tundra to the point they are releasing #emissions that could further worsen #globalheating by as much as 30%
While scientists have long known of these “feedback loops” that amplify the impact of direct pollution from burning coal, oil and gas, the emissions from natural sources are largely unaccounted for in climate projections.

Study predicts large disparities in access to food, water and energy in 2050

Lower-income people could be spending roughly 50% of their income on food by 2050, in contrast to higher-income groups that could spend about 5% of their income on food.

Regional conditions, land use, energy systems, water availability and consumer behavior all shape the risks.

US to announce sharply lower vehicle fuel economy requirements

Trump administration will soon announce sharply lower vehicle fuel-economy standards, reversing a push by the prior administration to force automakers to build more fuel-efficient vehicles.

It would increase fuel consumption by around 100 billion gallons through 2050, fuel spending by $185 billion and carbon dioxide emissions by about 5%.

#ElNiño is now stronger than at any point in the last 1,000 years, study finds
Temperature variability since 1984 runs 36.5% higher than preindustrial from 1000 to 1850CE and is 16.2% higher than during 1851-1982. All three intervals are statistically distinct, and the trend only goes up. Those figures, Cole explained, mean that events that once ran a degree or two above normal in the #Galápagos now run three or four.
