Oh, I was limited by the 5000 symbols and didn't want to add another new layer of complexity to my toot — so I oversimplified the part about LLMs and layoffs
. But I'm not limited here
Yeah, the layoffs "because some C-level thinks that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow the «Artificial Intelligence» will become able to replace programmers completely and the rich guys finally don't need to pay a lot to these fucking nerds and just could buy some island instead" — are obviously using LLMs as an excuse for these layoffs. Or/and as a "Holy Graal", since fairy-tail about "this new tech will finally replace necessity in thinking humans" is a long-story in case of IT sector:

But the LLMs, I think, speeded up this process — because before the same actions may cause an unnecessary attention from investors, journalists, lawyers and (possibly) government. But for now it just a "progress" — like it was in times of textile workers and textile producing factories, when the opponents of a 10-16 working hours, child labour and increased workplace injuries were mocked as an opponents of "progress" and "luddites": archive.today/2021.10.31-10503…, campus.murraystate.edu/academi…, and npr.org/2015/05/18/407749357/w….
Of course, sooner or later some new or old excuse will be used (if there are no LLM-hype) to justify these layoffs since rising graphs is cool and working people, having money to spend it for goods, is not cool in this economy /s
