New painting! “Ukrainian Vampire - 1”

What happens when you combine traditional Japanese mediums, Western watercolor paper, Ukrainian aesthetics, and a love for vampires?

This, apparently. And wow, she’s beautiful.

This was my first attempt at a proper piece with Gansai Tambi, Japanese watercolor-like paints. I combined it with liquid ink and some Japanese nihonga techniques.

Beautiful, but bloody. That’s the emotion I wanted to convey.

I am not putting this one up for sale, I want her to hang in my house. I like her too much!

Vampirella no. 15 (May 1982)

I'm not really up on Vampirella lore but apparently Pantha is her buddy and while Vampirella's clothing runs to "95% nude" Pantha's just full-on nude at this point? Or wait she's wearing underwear so only 99.5% nude.

For some reason Pantha looks British to me, I can't explain it.

Like most Vampirella covers, it's one step away from being full-on porn, but you have to admire the interplay of the two lighting sources, the contouring, the appreciation for form.

Why does the text say the anti-pope is conjuring up the demons? Clearly she's doing that herself.
