Anyone have recommendations for non-SaaS/cloud software for accounting, specifically payroll and invoicing? Super big bonus if it is geared toward/has an extension for worker co-ops.
My day job is recruiting more #Python Developers (remote, but you must be in the UK).
We're a worker co-operative of ~20 people working on data infrastructure/standards for social good. E.g. locations of backbone fibre infrastructure, improving government decision making, and data about charitable grants.

What we are certain of however is that the eco system of libre software has enough tools to meet the needs of most organisations. There's a standard set of apps they come up again and again (feel free to share your experiences in the replies).

Email - We're currently reselling email from our co-op friends at Web Architects

Once you get this stack integrated, and your org trained, it's really powerful! It's also super resource efficient. You can run it on a single server (or spread it onto multiple small servers).

We can maintain your desired infrastructure on hosting of your choice as long as it meets our standards (Linux, Docker, stable networking etc).
We can even help you setup and manage your own on-premises servers for total data sovereignty.
All of the services we promote are open source and we absolutely hate lock in and drawbridging (paywalling features). All our infra is non provider specific so you can rest assured knowing that your infrastructure will last and can be maintained easily by others that aren't us.

It's early days and the project is still in beta but we have published an early version of a @coopcloud recipe (git.coopcloud.tech/coop-cloud/…) that makes it easier to deploy Docs for smaller organisations (the La Suite deployment has apparently approx 15,000 users).
We are offering managed Docs instances with full support provided by us. Hosted in the EU by a worker owned tech co-operative.
No bosses, no CEOs and we pay all our taxes.
