Ah, looks like we now have details about the autumn #covid19 booster campaign in the UK.
Available on the NHS only for those 65 and over, care home residents, those with specific health conditions, and front line health and social care staff.
Everyone else will have to pay. Looks like it costs about £100.
Which sucks.
It beggars belief that some amazing science gave us the tools to mitigate the threat of covid, and we choose not to use them.

So apparently one of my servers with Ubuntu installed got the Gnome desktop environment on it somehow??? It at least hadn't been enabled for months and suddenly enabled itself when I restarted it earlier today.
I couldn't figure out why its CPU usage was suddenly way higher (like 40+% on every core) and why my ssh sessions kept getting frozen (it was going to sleep after the default amount of time because no one logged into the desktop environment).
Absolutely *no clue* why this happened, but luckily it's easy to disable again.
Should your car warn you that you’re speeding? California lawmakers vote yes
California could become the first state to require technology in cars that warns drivers when they're going 10 miles per hour over the speed limit. But critics say lawmakers are moving too fast.

A video depicting Albania's chief rabbi, Yoel Kaplan, celebrating the destruction in Gaza and leading Israeli troops in prayer has prompted an angry backlash in the country.
The video featuring Kaplan in Gaza was posted by a Jewish community website on Monday, but it is not exactly clear when it was taken.
Kaplan was appointed chief rabbi by the Albanian government in 2010, against the wishes of the countrys Jewish community.

The mocking and shaming responses to Tim Walz’s son’s emotions at the DNC shows that society has a long way to go in understanding neurodivergent behaviors.
Research suggests that 15% to 20% of the U.S. population is neurodivergent, and this is likely an undercount. That’s 1 in 5 people.
Here’s a quick explainer on neurodivergence (you don’t have to be a doctor to understand it):
