Crested sun orchid (Thelymitra x irregularis) near Narrabarba, NSW. Two plants out here on a cool morning - just enough sun for the flowers to open!
This beautiful small orchid is a natural hybrid between T. ixioides (spotted sun orchid - which is common nearby) and T. carnea (pink sun orchid - which I've not seen here). This is the first time I've come across this orchid in NSW although I've seen a handful of plants near Genoa in East Gippsland, VIC (where it is regarded as rare).
