All of the main body of the laptop is aluminum. The bezel is actually attached magnetically and detatches for easy access to the camera and microphone components as well as to make it easily possible to switch the bezel out for a replacement or a differently-colored one. And yes, it's plastic.

Ah ok - does it not feel like too flimsy because it is plastic? I developed a fear of plastic in laptops, and I've seen several metal built laptops with a plastic bezel for the display, and it kinda always breaks or detaches...

Well, in this case it's kinda made to detatch (though I've never had it happen by accident yet), so it's very easy to put back on. It's also easily replaceable if it does break.

But it feels pretty sturdy to me, when I peel it away. It's also flexible, so I doubt it'll be snapping.

It's a fun way to quickly demonstrate the modularity of the laptop to doubters, I'll tell you that! I do sometimes find myself fiddling with it, so it might get a bit dust back there if you do that, but it should be easy to clean out.

Ah yes that's another thing I was wondering if there are some gaps between that thin plastic thing and the frame of the laptop. Concerned if dust gets into that. btw what processor you have for yours?

No, if the magnets are lined up there's no gap. I count 20 magnets, which holds it in place pretty securely unless you're intentionally trying to take it off.

Speaking of which, the top cover with the keyboard is actually magnetically attached to the bottom half, but also screwed in. That makes it easier to align it when putting the laptop back together.

I have the 12th-gen 1240P; it's the lowest tier of 12th gen but still has 12 cores so I think I did pretty well. Four E, 8 P.

So you're saying this laptop is very well built. idk sounds tempting :D - the main thing bothers me is the small screen. I can't tell how small that is compared to mine. But yeah this laptop sounds like a unique one....to be able to replace pretty much everything is quite useful.

It’s the same size as other screens I’ve had so I wouldn’t know. 🤷‍♂️
