These "creators" fighting to "reach people" on a "video platform". Or, in other words, these "charlatans" fighting to "fool people into watching their videos so that they can make more money and become more popular" on an "ad platform".

These ridiculous situations would not exist in a society that moved away from trade by making it obsolete. If you make any kind of content, you just make it and it will be available to whoever follows you. Simple. And if people want to discover other kinds of videos, that are similar, then you can have algorithms that can simply do that, but without these algorithms being charlatans and wanting to keep you sucked into their platform.

Take Peertube, the honest video platform. You upload there and all of your subscribers get a notification when you post something new. Easy. No BS algorithm to try and make as much money for the platform or the creator.

I swear humans have lost it completely. Obsessed with views, counts, comments, profits, likes....those were supposed to be a measure of value, but now they have become THE VALUE most are seeking for.

I am so sick of this nonsense and these prostitutes. I think Veritasium should use his clickbait title "This is why we can't have nice things" for this last video of his. Cause it makes better sense.

Even if he is right a little bit and says he has to play the game to reach more people with his more-scientific content, he completely ignores the side effects of such a platform/system/approach. How this approach encourages shitty videos overall, and keeps people locked into a deep state of confusion and misrepresentation of reality. It incentivizes youtube to keep users locked into their platform and feeds them wherever clickbait works best for views, and makes most creators work more on the title and thumbnail than the videos themselves. Even Veritasium says 50% of the work is in the title and the thumbnail. This is the same exact story of movies that invest so much into trailers and posters (clickbait to watch the movies), books that do so with the promotion and the book cover, games and so forth.

Same shit Veritasium. But you are biased since you use that platform and such tactics so of course you'll try to make it look like it is "no harm". Bad. Bad. Bad.
